Obituary

Tressa Ash, 73, of Mesa, AZ passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Nov. 12, 2022. She was born September 19, 1949, in Idaho Falls, ID to Don B and Della Andersen.

She married Tony Ash in 1979 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. She was preceded by his passing in 1995. She is survived by her six daughters and one son, Carol (Jory) May, Tristin (Keith) Packer, Whitney (Brady) Pope, Taylor (Chad) Workman, Logan Ash, Tate (Syrell) Ash, Caden (Joe) Durfee, as well as 25 grandchildren and four siblings, Marcia, Scott, Faye and Robyn.

Tressa built her life around loving and serving others. If you knew her, you loved her. She was one of life’s most precious treasures. Always faithful and stalwart, she was a true example of living a Christ-centered life. Her wit, humility, compassion, and testimony will always be remembered.

A viewing will be held Friday, November 18th, from 5-7 PM at Bunker Funeral Home, 3529 E. University Dr. in Mesa and at 9AM Saturday the 19th at the Citrus Heights LDS church building, 2549 N. 32nd St. in Mesa. Funeral services will follow at 10AM.

I love sister Ash she was one of my young women advisors way back many years ago and she never missed my birthday all the way into my 50’s she sent me a Happy birthday card or message she is the kindest sweetest loving person I had the great pleasure of knowing her, I also believe she put flowers on my sweet brothers grave on a regular basis, she will be greatly missed and eternally loved

I’ll never forget the impact sister ash had on me as a young women’s leader. I’ll always remember her in her dresses in the pencil behind her ear ready to write something down. After getting married, she ended up being a neighbor to my in-laws. It was such a delight to be able to still see and visit with her. Even during the time she was suffering, she was still serving and thinking of someone else. She will always have a special Place in my heart and will forever be an example to those she came in contact with.♥️

Sister Tressa Ash was truly one of a kind. She was the best young women’s leader any girl could ask for! She was always so willing to have us over at our house for activities or just to talk. I’ll forever remember her in a dress with a pencil behind her ear ready to help. After I got married, I found out she was going to be in my new ward! She still was the same wonderful person. One day at church I was telling someone I was not feeling good and when I got home I found fresh squeezed orange juice at my door. After I moved away we still Kept in contact since she was neighbors with my in-laws. My favorite thing about her was even on her worst days, she was still thinking and serving others before herself. She will forever have a special place in my heart along with anyone else who has ever met her. Prayers for the Ash family.♥️

I moved into the area shortly after Tony passed. I was serving a Mission and it wasy second area. My companion and I felt a prompting to go meet this family and see if we could be of service in one way another. It ended up the other way around. I am amazed at the strength of Sister Ash. The Spirit was so strong . We were there many times and soaked up the Spirit. After mission I drug my wife from Florida to have her meet Sister Ash. Since the first time I met her she has a special spot in my heart and always will. She was is an amazing mom. Not just for Carol, Tristan, Whitney, Taylor, Logan, Tate and Caden. But for so o many others. I can’t wait to see her again. I know her children are strong and will be fine. I’m sorry that you must go through this, but life will go on and with time the pain will fade. Love you guys.

I remember Sister Ash most from my years as a kindergartener. She took me and Caden out to lunch once and I ordered a Dr. Pepper to drink. I told Sister Ash my mom was okay with me having it, never actually having had it before, only to learn later that the reason she’d double checked was because it had caffeine and a lot of parents don’t like their little kids have caffeine (mine included!). Another memory is of being at her house before and after school a few times. She would ask me the same questions about my day as her own kids and feed us cookies. She was SO nice and loving, always. I have a hazy memory, too, of her taking care of Brother Ash in his wheelchair in the other room. It felt sacred, even to my young self. I am sure their reunion is a joyful one. Sister Ash raised great kids! I’ve always admired Caden, who is my age, and pray for the entire Ash family to have peace and comfort during this time.

Tressa and I were besties in high school and I considered her a sister. She was good inside and out. I loved her and will miss her forever. There are really no words to express the loss I feel. I pray I see her again someday and her Tony. Love ya girlfriend forever. Gary and I talk a lot about you and our friendship. We are forever happy we had you in our lives. Until we meet again.

Patricia (Wall) Caputo

Tressa and I became friends when she and her family moved to Kennewick, Wn. She and I were in the same class in school and attended the same church. I loved her personality. She was really funny and witty. And when we met up many years later at our 50th high school class reunion, I was delighted to find she hadn’t changed at all. She had made Halloween dish towels for all of her girlfriends and was hanging them out at the various reunion events. I have three that I shall forever cherish. Tressa had a heart of gold and was loved by all who knew her! God bless you Tressa and I look forward to meeting you again one day.

Tressa was my cousin and just enough older than me for me to really idealize her. What a beautiful service. Thanks so much for making it available through zoom. Our thoughts and prayers of peace to her amazing children and grandchildren.
