Obituary

Timothy Dean Borrud, 58, of Mesa, Arizona passed away suddenly Saturday, May 20, 2017 in Mesa. He was born on May 1, 1959 in Williston, North Dakota to Albert and Mary Borrud. He was baptized and confirmed in the First Lutheran Church in Williston, ND and graduated from WHS in 1977 and continued his education at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks.

During his school years, he was active in boy scouts, band, piano, choir, baseball, many other school activities and being class president.

Through his faith, he cared for, and influenced every life he touched with his patience and compassionate ways. He loved to cook and entertain his family and friends and with his terrific sense of humor always made us laugh. He truly had a gift of giving and pleasing other people.

Tim found his calling in healthcare as a patient advocate during his 25-year career in Arizona with Dignity Healthcare at the Chandler Regional Hospital and the Mercy Gilbert Medical Center as Manager of Financial Counseling. His compassion and respect for the patient was his mission and was felt by all who knew him.

Tim had many interests and hobbies, especially his annual San Diego deep sea fishing trips with his best friends. He loved photography, always capturing the beauty of mother nature and his love for animals. His extensive knowledge of various artists and their music was an important part of his everyday life.

Honoring his generous wish, the gift of life was shared with many people in need through organ and tissue donation.

Left to mourn his passing is his mother, Mary Borrud of Williston, ND; his sister, Debra Borrud of Mesa, AZ; niece, Jane Errebo of Chicago, Ill; brother, Thomas Borrud and his wife Diana of Brier, WA; his niece and nephew, Allison and Andrew Borrud, Brier, WA; and brother, Darryl Borrud of Williston, ND.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert H. Borrud; his brother, David A. Borrud; his grandparents, Hjalmar and Alice Borrud and Florence V. Thompson of Williston, ND.

A memorial service will be held on Friday June 30, 2017 at 12:00 noon at the Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ 85201. Interment in Williston, North Dakota at a later date.

Borrud Family, I was really sad to hear about Tim passing away. I just talked to him in December with his sister, as they were making arrangements for there mom at Bethel Home. He graduated with my brother Terry. It was really great to see him after many years. I hope will cherish the great memories of Tim. Take care of each other. I was very sad to hear of Tim’s passing. I’ve known Tim longer than I can remember probably starting in Sunday school at First Lutheran Church. He was always fun and full of life. Our paths crossed many times between high school and college at UND and he was always a joy to be around. My condolences to your family on its loss.

One of the fondest memories of my youth is the time I spent with my friend Tim. Hiking and camping, the summers at Boy Scout camp, fishing and riding bike. Tim was one of my favorite patients. We saw him weekly and he always shared his next adventure. He was so genuine and full of wisdom. He always kept us laughing and inspired us to reach our goals. He became family over the last few years. He always talked about coni and her children. He loved them. He was all about good health which made this even more shocking. I hope that the people who gets his organs will feel his spirit and joy. Tim will always be in our hearts and will be truly missed.

My deepest condolences to your family. Tim was one very nice man. I worked with him at Chandler Regional the entire time he was there. From the old days of him with his long hair, and that cool old car he drove around in. I remember him having cats live in that car! He was funny, he was helpful. He was just a lot of fun to work with. I remember going to traffic school, and he was there. It made the class so much more fun with his humor. He helped the patients, he helped the hospital staff. I was very sorry to learn of Tim’s passing. I knew Tim through work at Chandler Regional Medical Center, and he was one of the kindest, caring people I knew. His love for animals was so deep and we shared many stories about our fur babies (our cats). Tim and I would feed the stray cats that hung around the hospital. He was also very caring and compassionate about the patients that he counseled with. I also remember his excitement every year when the men would go on their annual deep sea fishing trip. Tim was kind to everyone and had a warm smile. He will be missed by his friends and family! Rest In Peace, Tim. I pray for comfort and strength for his family during this time of mourning.
