Obituary

Thomas Piorkowski, 63, passed away on May 19, 2019 in Gilbert, Arizona. He is survived by his loving wife Nina, Christopher (27), Cheri (19), and Charlie (17) who he adored.

Tom was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was an avid baseball fan of the Yankees and was a devoted and fun uncle to his nieces Kelly and Megan and nephews Derek, Max, Troy, Brett, Brian, Joe, Mike, Jim and Jeff. Oh how he cherished watching them grow and took them on baseball trips to all the stadiums in the US.

He was a loving brother to his siblings Joseph (departed), Danny, Robert, his sister Marie and sister in laws Claire and Marie.

He held the position of Director of Public Works for the town of Pembroke, MA and then for Lincoln Park, NJ for two decades. He was passionate about his career and his work for conserving the environment.

A celebration of life will be held in his honor on Saturday, May 25 from 3-6 p.m. at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Manville, NJ.

I was Tommy’s sister in law – even though I I was not mentioned in his obituary . I was married to Tom’s older brother, Joe, who like Tom was was taken by that awful disease leukemia . My boys adored their Uncle Tom. He was over just playing with them or building in the garage with them after my dad passed away. He was so good with the boys even though he was hurting over his brother’s death. We played scrabble on holidays and could count n Tommy to bring the wine.. He was the kindest, most generous person with the best sense of humor. We miss you Tom. Always will. ?. Love, Nancy and Sons

I was sorry to receive the news of Tom’s untimely death. Happy though, to hear he had a good life. The pain and suffering he endured with this illness sounds beyond belief. Rest in peace your suffering is over. My deepest condolences to his family.

I’m absolutely shocked at what I just read. I’m so sorry to hear about his passing. I’m in the process of moving and came across Tom’s old Director of Public Works card from Lincoln Park. We got to know each other when he came to Lincoln Pk. thru the Lakeland Hills YMCA where we had a locker next to each other. We started to hang out with each other and a group of others for a couple of years. The last I was in contact was when Tom was getting ready to move to Arizona. I always wanted to look him up to say hi, and when I came across his card I decided too. Unfortunatey I found him on this site. My prayers go out to all his friends and family. He was a gentle giant of a man. One of the nicest people you would ever meet. I’m numb typing this. I just can’t believe it. I’m so sorry! Now I wish I didn’t wait so long to touch base with him. Godspeed!
