About Teodorica Aurora Dakanay Casey

Much loved Aunt, Teodorica Aurora Dakanay Casey, was born in Cebu, Philippines on October 17, 1930, the eldest of five children of Atty. Emigdio Galan Dakanay and Remedios Veloso Pañares Dakanay.

She completed high school in 1947 at Silliman High School in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, Philippines, and graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines, with a degree in Pharmacy in 1951.

She taught at the Immaculate Conception School of Pharmacy and at the Ateneo de Davao (Chemistry), and later at Maryknoll College in the Philippines before immigrating to the United States in 1957. She took up graduate studies in chemistry at St. Joseph’s College in Philadelphia.

She was a licensed and registered Pharmacist in Manila, Philippines (1951), the State of Illinois (1964), the State of New York (1968), the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (1975), and the State of Maryland (1984). She is also a registered member of the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists and of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.

She briefly came out of retirement in the 1990’s to work as an Advice Pharmacist at the Pentagon in Virginia.

Teodorica was born with a generous heart and early in life endeavored to fulfill a call to be a missionary. God had another purpose for her and Teodorica lived her life with open arms that were always ready to embrace, encourage, and support. Her home was a haven, a place where one could always find comfort and acceptance.

Wrapped safely in the Lord's loving and everlasting arms, Teodorica went home to her Creator on August 15, 2026. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her fourteen nieces and nephews, and their families.
