Sharon Rose Briggs – October 14, 1948 to August 31, 2026

On August 31, 2026, Sharon Rose Briggs followed her loving husband, Robert, into eternal rest. Born in Morenci, Arizona, to Emanuel Moore and Dorothy Kendall, Sharon spent her earliest years there before the family moved to the Sunnyslope area of Phoenix. She often recalled the camping trips of her childhood and the many beautiful pieces of furniture her father, an amateur carpenter, fashioned by hand. Those years gave her a lifelong love for the outdoors, and she spent much of her youth exploring it; it was a love she carried into her own family life, camping with her children in the woods of Prescott and planning summer trips to the redwood forests and the beaches of California.

Sharon earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Arizona State University and married Robert, the love of her life, the day after graduating in the summer of 1972. She taught high school early in her career before leaving the classroom to raise their two children. Sharon shared over 54 years of marriage with Robert until his passing. Their time together was filled with devotion, partnership, and a love that only grew deeper with time.

Words were Sharon's gift. She wrote stories and poems, and often improvised songs on the spot for her children. Her love of literature and philosophy ran deep, with a special passion for poetry, and she was an avid reader who would stay up into the small hours to finish a good book. Sharon had a playful side too: her puns made people groan, and her dad jokes (fondly known as "mom jokes" to her children) earned her the reward of a good face-palm, which delighted her every time. She wanted her children to share her love of literature, and every summer she read to them, never resisting the urge to add her own personal flair, elaborating on fairy tales with little touches of her own that turned them into stories lovingly requested many times over. She loved to sing, and championed the arts in every form, holding a special place in her heart for Broadway and musicals; a love she passed on to her children.

Sharon will be remembered for her kindness, her big heart, and her rare ability to make a person feel seen and loved. She could talk to anyone, and she gave the kind of hugs and embraces that could calm any storm; her children knew that no matter what, they could always find comfort in her arms. Sharon’s creativity, love, and acceptance were an inspiration to her family, and her strength and resilience showed in everything she did, from sharing a laugh to her boundless selflessness. She brought compassion with her wherever she went, and she left the world better than she found it.

Sharon is survived by her daughter, Ann Starks (Joe Starks); her grandchildren, Aaron, Ethan, and Lily; and her nephew, Michall Moore (Teresa Moore), and their children, Mia and Mike. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Briggs, and their son, Ryan Briggs, both in April of this same year.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM at Bunker's Garden Chapel with Heather Besoiu presiding as Funeral Celebrant. A Reception will follow in the Events Room of Bunker's Garden Chapel. She is missed deeply. "Love transcends time; it binds us even in absence.”
