About Roger Ronald Haynes
Roger Ronald Haynes, 83, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away peacefully at home on March 2, 2026.
Roger was born on May 11, 1942, in Springfield, Massachusetts, to Russell Haynes and Charlotte (Jasmin) Haynes. He graduated from Agawam High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University and a Master’s degree from the University of Southern California. He also served as a Captain in the United States Air Force until 1972. On April 6, 1965, he married his best friend and lifelong companion, Jane Kusiak. Together, they built a loving home in Mesa, Arizona.
Roger spent his career in aerospace engineering, working for Garrett Corporation, which later became AlliedSignal and then Honeywell. He retired from Honeywell in 1996. In retirement, he enjoyed swimming laps in his backyard pool, gardening, and spending time at his cabin in Christopher Creek, Arizona. Roger and Jane also served three missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: on a Church farm in Los Mochis, Mexico; for the Church Educational System in Belize; and at the Nauvoo Temple in Nauvoo, Illinois.
Roger was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jane, his parents, and his granddaughter, London Solomon. He is survived by his brothers, Bruce and Russell Haynes, and his eight children: Aimee Manis, Heather Solomon, J. Noah Haynes, David Haynes, Nancy Higgins, Bridgett Ronan, Jennifer Johnson, and Robert Haynes. Roger’s legacy also includes 40 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren (and counting), all of whom cherish the love and wisdom he shared throughout his life.
A memorial open house will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at his home: 1701 E. Ivyglen St., Mesa, AZ 85203.
There will be no formal funeral service. He will be interred at Mesa Cemetery.
Roger will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May memories of him playing his guitar, singing, and dancing bring comfort to all who loved him.
