Obituary

Roger Alan Friend 74, of Mesa, AZ born in Ohio passed away on October 4, 2021 in Mesa, AZ after a short illness. He is preceded in death by his parents Lyle A. and Nola A. (Blessing) Friend and his in-laws James and Marjorie (Moser) Holzhauer.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Lynda (Holzhauer) Friend. His two daughters, Amy (Fred) Burlager and Jennifer (Jason) Harris. His grandchildren Mercedes, Georgia, Wyatt, Peyton, and Braxton. His sisters Nina (James) Minnich of Ohio, Susan Jamison of Ohio and Ethel (Norm) Harp of Ohio.

Roger served in the U.S. Army as a mechanic. He spent 30 years as a diesel mechanic and 8 years at Home Depot before retiring. Roger loved woodworking and making projects. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and papa. Roger loved watching college football and rooting on his grandchildren’s college teams: Oklahoma State and Oklahoma.

Services will be held at a time and location to be announced in Mesa, AZ. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that contributions be made to in Roger’s name to the Wounded Warriors project.
