A Life Remembered
Obituary
Pamela Jeanne Councilman passed away suddenly on the morning of December 10, 2018 due to a pulmonary embolism. She was 70 years old.
Pam was born September 11, 1948 in Mesa, AZ to Jerold John and Christeen Nielsen Hall. She enjoyed growing up close to her grandparents and had many cousins nearby. A favorite summer tradition was going to the Nielsen Family Reunions near St. Johns, AZ. She graduated from Westwood High School in Mesa, attended Mesa Community College, and graduated from Brigham Young University in 1970 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
She received a teaching job in Southern California and taught with the Centralia School District in Buena Park for 38 years. She mostly taught 1st grade and developed wonderful relationships with her students and co-workers.
Pam met David Councilman at a singles ward family home evening activity and they were married on June 4, 1977. They have one daughter, Carrie Anne, born May 16, 1979.
Pam has been a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has served in many different callings in the church – mainly in Primary and Relief Society. She loved our Savior, the gospel, and her family. She always thought of others before herself and often looked for ways to serve.
Pam is preceded in death by both her parents and her brother, Darwin Hall. She is survived by her husband, Dave; her daughter and son in law, Carrie and Tyler Allen; five grandchildren, Abigail (16), Andrew (14), Alexander (14), Benjamin (10), and Tanner (6); 2 sisters, Marsha (Paul) Snow and Jerrilyn (John) Wilcken; sister-in-law, Terri Hall; and many nieces and nephews and their families, who she adored.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 North Centennial Way, Mesa, Arizona. The funeral will be on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 10:00am at the LDS chapel on 8161 South Power Road, Queen Creek, Arizona. The family is overwhelmed and grateful for all the love, prayers, and service that has been shown at this time.
