Lynn Hyrum Tawzer, 76, passed away unexpectedly on January 19, 2022, in Mesa, Arizona. He had valiantly fought and won his battle with pancreatic cancer in 2021 but succumbed to lingering effects from cancer treatment. Lynn was born and raised in Ammon, Idaho. He earned a football scholarship to Brigham Young University and later graduated with a Bachelor and Master’s degree in business. Lynn met his sweetheart, Dixie Cummings, at an orientation dance the first week of college and they have been happily married for 56 wonderful years. After living in Provo, Utah for 12 years, they moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1977 where Lynn started Irvine Electric, an electrical contracting business, with his father-in-law. Lynn was always a hard worker and ran the business successfully until retiring in 2020. Lynn built precious memories with family while enjoying his hobbies of hunting, camping, and golf. Lynn and Dixie were blessed with four beautiful children and Lynn was never happier than the times he spent with his family. Lynn was a devoted husband, a dedicated father, and a loving and involved grandpa. All his children remained in Mesa to be close to their parents.

Lynn was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was serving as a service missionary at the time of his passing. He loved to serve and happily did so in every calling that was extended to him. His love for the Savior, Jesus Christ, was reflected in all he did and said. This great and gentle man will be missed by all who had the fortune to know him.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin “Bud” Tawzer and Phoebe Ann Peterson Tawzer, older sister, Blanche Joy Tawzer, brother-in-law Steve Murdock, and granddaughter, Lindsey Tawzer. He is survived by his older brother, Charles (Elaine) Tawzer, and sister, Holly (Steve) Murdock. He leaves behind his wife, Dixie, and four children, Maria (Kirk) Lamb, Jeffrey (Julie) Tawzer, Stacy (Chet) Randall, Joanne (Mistie) Wagner, 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 11:00 am, with a viewing preceding at 10:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints stake center located at 10305 E Southern Ave, Mesa, AZ 85209. Bunker’s Family Funerals www.bunkersfuneral.com handled arrangements.

Lynn was a great friend and associate of mine in the the commercial contracting world. I am a general contractor and I worked with him, His son Jeff, and his crew for over twenty years. After he retired, my son and I stayed in contact with him as we were friends, along with co contractors for so many years. I will miss my friend dearly. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and anyone who had the pleasure to have met this wonderful man. God Bless. Thx. Jay.

I was fortunate to have known Lynn as a very good friend. We lived in the same neighborhood together with Lynn and Dixie since 1978. Lynn and I had many adventures hunting quail, doves, elk, deer, and antelope. We also survived some great fishing trips in the White Mountains. In later years Vicki and I enjoyed frequent lunches and even a few movies with Lynn and Dixie. Lynn was a great example as a husband, father, church leader, neighbor, and willing to help anyone at any time. I will greatly miss my good friend.

Sherman Tingey

We have been good friends with the Tawzer’s ever since we both moved to East Mesa and built our new homes just three houses away from each other. We have been blessed with going out to dinner and church activities with Lynn and Dixie many times. From my office window I can see Lynn walking down to the post office boxes. I quickly try to finish the project I am working on to rush outside and catch Lynn as he was coming home with the mail. We would sit on the front patio and discuss many topics together. Lynn was such a great person and good friend that I was shocked to learn of his passing. I agree with Jeff Gunnell Above that Lynn was a great example as a father, a husband, as a church leader, and as a good friend. I wish the Lord’s best blessings for Dixie and the family members.

Brother Tawzer was a valiant servant of our Savior Jesus Christ. He always went the extra mile. I worked with him in the prison ministry program and he always led the way in how to serve more than was expected. I’m sure he will be welcomed in paradise in the Savior’s arm with a” Iwell done thou good and faithful servant enter into thy kingdom .” I will miss him.
