Lorna (Allred) Clifford, age 87 passed away peacefully in her assisted living care facility in Mesa, AZ in the early morning of February 5, 2025.
She was born to Stan and Callie Allred in Thatcher, AZ in 1937. Lorna lead a very happy active life filled with family, grandchildren, friends, neighbors, and church members.
Lorna was a talented fine artist who painted Southwest landscapes, Pueblo’s and old church missions. She developed these creative talents as an outlet for her wonderful imagination. She was an accomplished seamstress, always sewing clothes and dresses for her and her children. She taught herself cake decorating and created beautiful roses and flowers on cakes that were absolutely stunning as well as delicious. She also loved practical jokes and had a great sense of humor.
Lorna was born deaf as a result of her mother having German measles when she was pregnant with her. Lorna went to school in Tucson at the Arizona School for the deaf and blind. It was a boarding school and she lived there nine months out of the year and came home in the summer months. Lorna made lifelong friends with the students there, she loved school and her sweet friends.
Lorna married her eternal sweetheart Ralph Clifford in 1955 and honeymoon in California and went to a brand new amusement park called Disneyland. Years later, they were sealed for all time and eternity in August 1968 in the Salt Lake Temple. Ralph and Lorna were married for 65 years. They were blessed with three children, Jeffrey, Lorna Kay and Kristin.
Lorna was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, her parents, Stan and Callie Allred. Her sisters, Peggy, Shirley and Rhonda. And her son-in-law Richard Palmer.
Lorna is survived by her children, Jeff (Carolyn), Lorna Kay (James), Kristin (Former son-in-law, Richard Clutter). Lorna and Ralph had 11 grandsons and 21 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Vera Long and her brother Val Allred. She will be dearly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 14, 2025, with a viewing at 9 AM. Her funeral will start at 10 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Grandview Ward, located at 1221 W. Howe St., Tempe, AZ 85281.(Major crossroads are Priest and Broadway). ASL interpreting services will be provided for the hearing impaired.

I sat by Lorna in Sacrament meeting and wrote for her. I still use her recipes in the cookbook.
She was an angel on earth for sure.
