Obituary

Linda Louise Batt was born November 10, 1949, to Stephen and Juanita Svedi in New Kensington, PA. As a teenager, her family moved to Kailua, HI on the island of Oahu where she graduated from Kailua High School and the former Church College of Hawaii (now called Brigham Young University Hawaii). She married her late husband, Steven Batt, and they were sealed in the Laie Hawaii Temple on August 12, 1972. After their first child was born, they moved to San Diego, CA in 1975 and had 3 more children. In 1987, they moved to Mesa, AZ where she worked at Whittier Elementary School as a computer lab teacher and reading specialist for many years before retiring. She is survived by her four children, Paul Batt, Grant Batt, Saralyn Morales, and Kristiann Batt and their families, including 7 grandchildren whom she adored.

Funeral Services are Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 10:30am. Aloha attire encouraged. LDS Beverly Ward Building 1054 West 2nd Pl. Mesa, AZ 85201

I had the pleasure of her company a few days before her departure. It was a bittersweet experience as we enjoyed talking about the past. Her condition brought tears to my eyes as she was so weak and really couldn’t do anything. I take pleasure in knowing that she no longer is suffering and is with loved ones, especially Steve Batt. Love you Linda. Your in good hands now.

I’m so sorry for the family’s loss but I’m glad Linda isn’t suffering any longer and is reunited with loved ones. We didn’t get to see each other as children but I enjoyed connecting as adults when she helped celebrate mom’s (Aunt Mary) birthdays and her life in 2022. It meant so much for her to travel to Dallas for mom’s memorial service. Praying for God’s peace for the family.

After 25 years of service to Whittier Elementary School, Linda then substituted for several years. During that time, my mother passed away on Easter Sunday. Linda was ‘holiday tired’ but she agreed to sub the next day. I will always be grateful for her willingness to have helped me out. She was a gal that enjoyed good times as seen by her presence at most of our celebrations such as retirements, showers, etc. Linda was a true and loyal friend.
