About Lavonne W Perkins

My beautiful mother Lavonne Gilbert Perkins passed away peacefully in her home on Monday April 6, 2026. She was 94 years old.

Lavonne was a gifted seamstress, excellent cook and a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Being admired by all, “Von” became a loving friend to everyone she encountered and was always a champion of “those misunderstood”.

Born in St. Winslow, AZ in 1931 she lived most of her life in Mesa, AZ. Von attended Lehi Elementary School, Franklin Junior High School and graduated from Mesa High School in 1949. Lavonne had the honor of performing with and was the main leader of the MHS Rabette Marching Squad.

After graduation she attended a dance at the Mezona Hall in Mesa where she met her sweetheart and future husband H. Bruce Perkins. They were married for 56 years before Bruce passed in 2007. Lavonne was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Lavonne is survived by her only child, a daughter Lisa Sumner (Michael), three grandchildren Kacie Deaver (Ed), Tanner Sumner (Lyndsey), Karlie Henslee (Tristan) and one great-granddaughter Hera Henslee.

A private family funeral service will be held where Von will be laid to rest with her sweetheart Bruce.

Arrangements by Bunker’s University Chapel, www.bunkerfuneral.com. Should this obituary appear anywhere but bunkerfuneral.com, please check our website for accurate details and service information.

Von was a beautiful and kind lady. I sure enjoyed her many visits to Red Bluff and Mineral and she will surely be missed. If you get a chance please listen to Cedar and Salt’s song entitled Beyond the Veil. It is very comforting. ❤️ I lost my sister in March.

My deepest sympathy to Lisa and family. I'm so happy I had the privilege of knowing Lavonne. I valued and enjoyed our friendship so much. she was so very proud of her family. I shall miss her. United again with her husband, Bruce, may they rest in peace together. God bless.
