Obituary

Keith Bion Griffin, born November 29, 1950, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2022. An adoring father and grandfather, loving husband, faithful disciple of Christ, gifted storyteller, even-handed businessman, and purveyor of many ice creams, Keith always made his family his very top priority. Whether Sunday dinners, rides on construction equipment, a hike in the Arizona mountains, or just a drive to the grocery store, Keith made each family member feel important around him. His work as business owner, bishop, scoutmaster, and owner of any tool you might ever need to borrow also brought him great joy.

He was welcomed home to heaven by his parents, Edna Lenora Libby and Heman Evander “Van” Griffin, as well as sister Nancy Nelson and granddaughter LaRae Schindler. Keith’s tradition of kindness, generosity, hard work, and good humor will be treasured by his surviving family; siblings Elva LeSueur and Richard Griffin, wife Tannis Thompson Griffin and their children Sarah Griffin Kanno, Camille Huber (Landon), Rachael Griffin (Matt Welker), Noel Valderrama (José), Spencer Griffin (McKenzie), and Anna Schindler (Weston), as well as 9 beloved grandchildren.

Services are Saturday, August 13 th at 11am, preceded by a visitation at 9:30-10:30am in the chapel at 3345 E. McLellan Rd. Mesa, AZ 85213. In lieu of gifts or flowers please donate to the Humanitarian Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints .

Our whole Huber family was immediately embraced by Keith and Tannis. We quickly were made to feel like family. The Griffins welcomed our son into their life’s and anytime we were in Mesa we were invited over for delicious food, cooling off in the pool, movie nights on their big wall, fireworks on the 4th of July and more. We were told to make ourselves feel at home and we did. Keith had a wonderful way of sitting and talking. He was thoughtful, kind and full of fun. We have so enjoyed sharing three grandchildren with him and Tannis. One memory we will never forget was the first time we meet them. They brought all the kids except Camille and Sarah to Salt Lake. Keith and Tannis took us to lunch and we giggled and shared our thoughts about Landon and Camille getting married. We had plenty of fun stories to share and then Ron and I told our waiter it was Spencer’s birthday. It wasn’t but Keith and Tannis played a long singing a rambunctious rendition of Happy Birthday followed by a cake with a big lite candel. Thankfully Spencer still likes us! The other blessed memory was when Landon was ordained a Bishop. Ron set him apart as a High Priest and afterwards Keith said with tears in his eyes,”that was the sweetest blessing I have ever heard.” Ron was humbled by his sincerity and kindness. We love you all. We will miss Keith dearly. We pray for each of you as you move through this. It’s hard but Griffins do hard with the Lord. God Bless you Tannis. We love you! Ron and Kristy Huber and family

Bishop Griffin- What do you say about the man who was a walking phone book back before phones had memory in them? He literally knew every phone number for every member in the ward! Thanks so much for the life lessons you taught me as a struggling young man who was new to the church. Without you and the life lessons you took the time to share with me I would not be the husband, father, and person I am today. Whether it was creating a made up position at your work so a kid had a chance to earn some money to being there as I struggled with life’s tough choices I will forever be grateful and remember the true Christ Like man that you always were. One of the highlights of church service was serving in a Bishopric with Keith….always kind, willing, wise, and generous in word and deed. When I was alone, he invited me for Sunday dinners. He called often with a new joke. He served longer and harder than most. Wards and communities are held together by people like him and Tannis. I love Keith and Tannis Griffin.

Amazing man. He was my home teacher and scout leader growing up. I remember my dad saying he was the best home teacher in the entire church. Heaven gained a real one.

Keith was the THE ABSOLUTE BEST friend to all, and a wonderful home teacher to our family. He always included our children in all of his teachings. Keith had the kindest spirit, and always treated others so sweet! We love the Griffins so much! ???

Our family loves Brother Griffin and the whole Griffin family. Our boys so appreciated his generous help with his time, teaching and equipment with Eagle projects and young men’s and scouting activities. He was a strong and steady presence during their growing up years. What a wonderful man to look up to. We are sure their dad welcomed his true and great friend with open arms as he crossed the veil. He will be so missed on this earth by so many people, but heaven has gained another loving servant and hard worker.

Dear Griffin Family, There is nothing I can say about Keith that you don’t already know or have heard. I just want to tell you that I was truly saddened when I got the text from Bunkers. Keith was such an amazing friend to everyone. It didn’t matter what day or time of day I called, he always picked up his phone, and was always willing to help! I always looked up to him and wanted to be just like him. His soothing kind voice, he laughter, and his loving patience. Words can not express who Keith was, only his Christ like actions. Keith, I know you are in a better place, surrounded by loved ones. I will miss you, along with countless others! Thank you for always answering my calls, being an amazing friend and especially a trusted Contractor and businessman. It was truly an honor for me to have been lucky enough to know you!
