About Karen Diane Fleagle

Karen Diane Fleagle (69) of Gilbert, Arizona peacefully entered into the arms of our Lord to have eternal rest in Heaven on March 13, 2026.

Karen was born on June 15,1956 in Detroit, Michigan to Dorothy Joan (Rogers) and Lowell Davis Thomas, who preceded her in death as well as a Brother-in-law; Dennis Fleagle, Father-in-law; Richard Fleagle, and Mother-in-law; Marydel Fleagle.

Karen’s family moved to Arizona in 1970 and operated the Tastee Freeze restaurant at Horne and Broadway in Mesa for many years. She married the love of her life, Duane, on July 22, 1978. She worked in microelectronics for several years as well as with her husband in the family plumbing business.

Karen had a witty sense of humor and was an avid homesteader and a very successful homemaker. She loved to be productive and her work ethic was beyond most. Her many interests were riding horses, reading, gardening, landscaping, preserving food, off-road riding with her family, hunting, fishing, crocheting, sewing, and farming but above all, spending time with her family. She was passionate about being the best Grandma to her grandchildren and a caretaker to all.

Karen was the eldest of 6 children who she helped raise as well as her 3 sons, 6 grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. She was loving and kind to all things, including many dogs, and was completely devoted to her husband and family. She was our matriarch in all ways. She also had great joy in her escapes to the mountain retreat of Tonto Village where she had a family cabin. She called that her “Happy Place.”

Karen is survived by her Husband, Duane, and Sons;

Dallas (Niccole); Grandkids; Cloey and Saydi, Reed (Sherré); Grandkids; Maverick and Caley, Jake (Daisy); Grandkids; Wyatt, Devany, Tomas, and Jayka,

Siblings; David Thomas, Kathy Akins (John), Kim Palmer, Mary Beth Schmidt (Jim), and Mark Thomas (Jaynann),

Brother-in-law; Alan Fleagle (DiAnna).

You will leave an irreparable hole in our hearts and endless memories.

We love you, Dear.

Karen, you are a beautiful bloom in the infinite meadows of Heaven. God looked around his garden and found an empty place, he then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best. We thought of you today, but that is nothing new. We thought of you yesterday and will tomorrow, too. We think of you in silence and make no outward show, for what it meant to lose you only those who love you know. Remembering you is easy, we do it everyday. It's the heartache of losing you that will never go away.

Good morning dear, the love of my life in Heaven. I`m sorry you had to leave at this time, I know it was your favorite time of year, all of your fruit trees have bloomed and setting fruit, your rose bushes are blooming, and remembering the huge Easter gatherings we had with our family you enjoyed so much. I`m thinking about you every minute of the day and miss you so much. I`ll do my best to honor your memory and carry on with life in this world with our sons and grandkids and siblings and friends, till we are in eternity together. Love everlasting, your husband

I always loved coming home from college and running into Karen and Duane outside my parents house. They were both so kind, always quick to wave, say hello, and come over with a warm hug. Karen was always outside, pouring her heart into making their yard absolutely beautiful! They are amazing people!! I am going to miss Karen but I know I will see her again one day!!

I’m so sorry for your loss. I know how deeply Karen will be missed. Although I only had the chance to meet her a few times, it was clear what an incredible person she was. She did an amazing job raising her children—I’ve rarely been around a family as hardworking and genuine as the Fleagle family. May her memory live on through Duane, her children, and her grandchildren. God bless.
