June Irene Gasper

Gasper, June Irene of Scottsdale, Mesa & Tempe AZ, passed away peacefully at 96 yrs, on Sept. 28th, 2025 at her daughter’s home. Born June 1929, on a dairy farm in N/W MN, to Finnish parents Charles and Ellen Lempi (Ojala) Lahnala. After H.S. graduation, while attending Univ. of MN, Mom met and soon married John S. Gasper (USAF, Korea) in June of 1952. From this marriage 3 children; Steven, Barbara and John(deceased). The family moved from Niagara Falls NY to Scottsdale. AZ in 1969, divorced in 1974, Mom never married again. Mom was hardworking and successful in many fields of work up to age 79. Mom loved the AZ Diamondback, Phoenix Suns & Bingo. Mom is survived by her loving son Steven J. Gasper of Maricopa AZ, daughter Barbara Ann (Gasper, Gilmore) McKown and husband Randy of Phoenix AZ. Grandchildren; Michael J. Gilmore of Dewey AZ, Jennifer E. Gilmore of Vancouver WA, Richard, Steven & James Gasper of CN and great granddaughter Elizabeth Shea O’Leary of Vancouver WA. Also surviving is her sister Gladys (Gerald) Behning of Duluth MN, as well as many nieces and nephews and dear friends. Burial at City of Mesa Cemetery with son John @ noon on Friday, Oct. 3rd. We would like to thank the wonderful team at Noble Hospice of Mesa AZ, especially Crystal our Aide and Pearla our Nurse, for an outstanding response in the care and attention to our dear Mother at a most challenging time.
