Josiah Robert Burk, 22, of Mesa, Arizona returned home to his Heavenly Father on May 10 th , 2023.

Josiah was born on July 9th, 2000, in Mesa, Arizona to Robert and Aubree (Fisher) Burk. He was the oldest of seven children. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a full-time mission during Covid, serving one year in Provo, UT before he was able to go to his assigned mission in Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast, West Africa). He pioneered the online Home MTC learning French. He was married on November 4 th , 2022, and sealed in the Gilbert Arizona Temple December 10 th , 2022, and loved attending the Temple on a regular basis. He attended and graduated from Mountain View High School in Mesa, where he was active in football, track, wrestling, and choir. He was very skilled in repairing vehicles and was a tire technician in high school. He was a Certified Nurse Assistant and was planning to become a Registered Nurse. He loved working with patients and serving others. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and hunting with his dad and brother. Children adored him and he loved playing with his siblings and cousins. He was influential to many and inspired them to be a better person.

He is preceded in death by his Grandpa, Dennis Ray Burk, his son Reuben Josiah Burk. He is survived by his wife Erielle (Hargrave) Burk, and her family Robert and Oterias, Her siblings Robert Jr, Alex, Whilma, and Cynara. His parents Robert and Aubree, siblings Sariah, Stenson, Rozina, Adalina, Catharina, and Eliza. Great Grandmother Doris (Read) Olney, Grandparents Betty (Perkins) Burk, Glenn Fisher, Sr & Sabra (Olney) several uncles, aunts, and cousins. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

My sincere condolences goes to the bereaved family. I had the opportunity of knowing Josiah when we were all serving the same mission, he was such a awesome Elder and friend to be around. He brightened up my face with laughter to keep me in a motivational mood. His example of willingly obeying the lord commandments and mission rules back then have impacted my life. It’s hard to say goodbye to such an amazing friend! But, with the surety that we have because of the atonement of Jesus Christ, I know that he’s not gone forever. We going to meet again on a joyful resurrection morning. Oh how great is going to be our joy on that day of reuniting with our loved ones. Love you Josiah Till we meet again

Such a wonderful man, I am so sad to hear of his passing. He made a huge difference for me as we served in the same district, in the same house, as we both waited to go to our original assignments. He brightened what was otherwise a very rough transfer for me, he was there for me when I needed someone and he definitely helped me laugh and smile! Sending love and prayers for his family and I know that he will be missed, but always remembered fondly.

Josiah Burk (or Elder Burk as I knew him) is a wonderful man. He was so fun to be around and was a powerful missionary. He was always outgoing and worked so hard to do what was right. He towered over all the ivoiriens, and especially when he first got there was incredibly muscular-which the ivoiriens loved.? Josiah was always there and ready to crack a joke and to make you laugh. He was always sharing his ideas and was a very capable man. He worked hard, and changed the lives of his companions and friends. From the very beginning he was used as a mission leader because of his willingness and his capabilities. I’m confident that the Lord is with Him. My condolences for the Burk family and loved ones.
