A Life Remembered
Obituary
Jon Pillon, 48, passed away October 16th after a brief battle with Pancreatic Cancer leaving a tremendous hole in the lives of all those who knew and loved him.
Jon was raised in Phoenix, AZ from the time he was just 6 weeks old and could share all the best gems of the valley, especially the best places for street tacos. He happily shared his recommendations with everyone including the nurses that cared for him during his recent hospital stays.
Food was Jon’s love language. He showed this by making sure those around him always had their favorites on hand and taking time to truly savor the foods he enjoyed most.
Another of Jon’s great passions was for all things automotive. If it involved Motorsport it was right up his alley from classic cruisers to race cars and everything in between. He loved drag racing in his Fox body Mustang he built as a kid to his Sunday cruising in his ’83 C10 step-side. He loved sharing this passion with others and even a simple FB marketplace interaction while working on his projects would turn into a lasting friendship.
Friendships came naturally to Jon. He genuinely cared for others, making a point to check in with those he cared for.
Jon could be a little rough around the edges but underneath had the most loving soul. He often said that his best life began at 40. He had always dreamed of having that one great love, never imagining he would find her in a church girl.
Jon met the love of his life, Kristen, while working as a Principal Systems Engineer at GlobalTranz. His willingness to always go the extra mile brought their paths together, and Kristen quickly caught his attention with her Star Wars knowledge and greatly timed memes. Jon fell hard and fast. Despite insisting that he never wanted to get married, he started calling her his wife well before proposing.
With patience, love, and steady persistence, Kristen gently broke through the well-built walls around his heart. Through their love, Jon began to welcome God back into his life. He was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he found a community that embraced him with overwhelming love and support. That same community surrounded him with compassion during his cancer diagnosis, showing him just how deeply he was loved.
He enjoyed teasing loved ones about their quirks, like leaving wrappers in the couch cushions, or quoting lines from their favorite movies or TV shows. He loved long-time running jokes and just being with those who loved. Jon truly loved others for who they were, without limits or conditions. He always believed that all anyone needs is love.
We are going to deeply miss his love, laughter, larger-than-life personality, and joyful new outlook of life.
