About Jesus Ramon Camarena Jr.

Jesus Ramon Camarena, Jr. 52 passed away on January 10th, 2024 in Gilbert, Arizona after a long battle with cancer. Born January 22, 1971 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, he was a son of Jesus Sr. and Maria Emilia Camarena.

After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served with the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper, where he was quickly promoted to sergeant and earned multiple awards. From a young age, Jesus worked with his father at the family’s automotive garage in Mesa, AZ.

He was the oldest of four children and a devoted father of two sons.

Jesus will be remembered by always helping his family and friends before himself. He was a son, brother, father and uncle that will be missed tremendously.

Jesus is preceded in death by his mother Maria Emilia Camarena. He is survived by his father, Jesus R. Camarena Sr.; his sons, Dylan M. Camarena and Jesus R. Camarena III; his brothers, Luis Camarena and his wife Paula of Mesa, Arizona; Carlos Camarena and his wife Sheila of San Tan Valley, Arizona; his sister Stella Garibo and her husband Francisco of Mesa, Arizona. He was an uncle to David Terrazas, Jacob Garcia, Thomas Garcia, Brianna Garibo, Gabriella Garibo, Adriana Garibo and Emma Camarena. He was also a great uncle to Jonathon Garcia, Elijah Garcia and Luciana Garcia.

There will be a visitation for Jesus on January 22, 2024 between 10-11 am at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ 85201. The funeral mass will be January 22, 2024 at 11:30 am at Queen of Peace, 141 N MacDonald Mesa, AZ 85201. Burial will follow at the City of Mesa Cemetery, 1212 N Center St, Mesa, AZ 85201 at 1:00 pm.

My deepest condolences to all the Camarena family, I have nice memories from my childhood and early teenage years in La Misa Sonora MEX when they used to come over to visit their relatives, Susy and I were very closed and Tia Panchita always lived having them over, that’s when Jesse started to pick up more on Spanish-language. I’m saddened beyond words to hear of Jesse’s passing. Jesse and few of his Army/82 d Airborne brothers were planning on a small reunion this coming May on Ft Bragg. Love you my brother Jesse. My oldest friend. I remember going to the movies with you in 6th grade and your mother jumping in the back seat of my father’s car to comb your hair before we left. When we were 17 I remember you showing up at my house on Parent’s house Saturday morning tapping on my window saying “let’s go to Mexico”. I am so glad I went, we had such an adventure that time in your hot rod car in Mexico.
