Jeffry Duff Owens, 75, passed away 9/10/2023 in Queen Creek, Arizona.

Jeff was born to John and Wilma Owens in Cleveland, Ohio and was a proud 1966 graduate of Garfield Heights High School (Go Bulldogs). After graduation, he began his telephony career at Ohio Bell/AT&T as an Apparatus Technician before serving in the Army in the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he embarked on an over 40-year career with Ohio Bell/AT&T and other telephone companies throughout the U.S.

Jeff delighted in racing and restoring cars and, according to his tally, owned approximately 50 vehicles throughout his lifetime, though we suspect there’s a few more to add to the list. He was also an avid golfer and once retired in the Phoenix area, he spent much time on courses with friends and family. Jeff was a devoted member of his gym, committed to fitness workouts with his morning crew, evident by his physique and six-pack abs!

Jeff was a private man, though it was unmistakable that he loved and cherished those in his life. Jeff will be dearly missed by his daughter Amanda (Craig), his sister Tawny (Steve), his brother Brant (Lana), nephews Jeff (Jodi), Jon (Emma) and Jason as well as friends he held close.

I met Jeff when we were teenagers starting out at Ohio Bell. We both served in Vietnam only a few miles apart. Back home I spent many happy hours at the Owens home on York playing cards. Also suffered many a drubbing over the years on the golf course as he was an excellent golfer. I’ll remember him as a quiet, thoughtful, gentle man and a good friend. Rest In Peace Kato.

I am so sorry . Jeff was the spouse of my beautiful sister Sherry! That is how I met Jeff. And while he was reserved, I loved him when I met him!! Thank you Jeff, for loving my sweet sister so much. I live out of state so I did not meet up with him much. He was a blessing to all of us.

The loss of a friend is a reminder of the shortness of life. It was with shock and sadness that I learned of the passing of Jeff Owens. We were co-workers at Ohio Bell (Washington C.O.) in the mid-sixties and again in the early seventies after I returned from military service and a tour in Vietnam. Our friendship continued for many more years until life-changing events, time and distance caused a separation, which I deeply regret. I remember Jeff as a quiet man with a sharp sense of humor – manifested in the pranks we all played on each other! He was a good softball player on our OBT sofball team. I know he loved his daughter Amanda who – along with his family and many friends brought richness to his life. I hope it gives comfort to all those who knew him that he cherished their love and friendship and know that he will continue to have a place it their heart. He will not be forgotten.
