Gary Lee Pemberton

Gary Lee Pemberton, 75, was born on November 22, 1950, in Independence, Missouri to John Kinslowe Pemberton and Lois Anita Shaw. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his older brother, John Kinslowe Pemberton, Jr. (Jackie); and his beloved stepfather, Donald Theobald Berner, whom Gary dearly loved.

Gary’s family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1953. He attended school in Phoenix where he made lifelong friendships and created many great memories. At the age of 14, Gary chose to be baptized. That evening, while attending a stake youth dance, the music was paused at 9:00 p.m., and the doors to the baptismal font were opened. His mother had arrived, and everyone at the dance gathered to witness his baptism- a beautiful beginning to a lifetime of faith.

Gary later graduated from Alhambra High School and went on to attend Glendale Community College. He faithfully served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northern States Mission, an experience which was meaningful to him throughout his life.

He began working for Salt River Project after his mission.

In March of 1975 he met Patti, the girl of his dreams. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Mesa, Arizona Temple on July 19, 1975. They were blessed with a special and enduring love, that remained strong throughout their lives together.

Gary and Patti were blessed with 3 children: Haylee, Thomas, and Kara. He devoted his life to being a husband, father, and then a papa. He cherished the time he was able to spend with his family.

Gary had a lifelong love of fishing, a passion he joyfully shared with his family, friends, and anyone who would listen.

His mother planted a love of flowers and gardening in him as a boy, and Gary carried that love throughout his entire life. He used that gift to bring beauty, happiness, and blessings to everyone around him.

Gary faithfully served in many callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his life. His faith was an important part of his life, and he had a deep and abiding love for the temple.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife Patti, his children,

Haylee and Lee Moore, Thomas and Stephanie Pemberton,

Kara and Andrew Buchholz, and his cherished grandchildren,

Kinsey, Landon, Van, Macy, TJ, Jett, Liam, Logan, Lucas, and MaeBree.

Oh, how we love and will miss Gary. We find comfort in our faith in our Savior and the eternal promise that we will be together again.
