Fred then married Cynthia Sandberg in 2020, who brought encouragement to his life. They were Mesa temple workers. Together, they served a yearlong LDS Church mission in Colstrip, Montana.

Fred lived a rich life. He was known for his easy-going kindness, cheerfulness and sense of humor. He also enjoyed singing in church choirs and playing the organ.
