A Life Remembered
Obituary
Florence Kofford, 69, of Apache Junction, Arizona; passed away on December 18, 2018 due to complications of multiple myeloma resulting from being a “down winder” from the Nevada Test Site as a child. She was born September 25, 1949 in Kanab, Utah.
Florence was an avid gardener, tap dancer, mountain biker, quilt maker, and hiker. She was a certified Master Gardner with Colorado State University and a founding member of the Western Colorado Botanical Society, serving both on the board of directors and as Treasurer for 9 years. She tap danced from when she was 6 years old until well into her 50’s.
She continued to ride her mountain bikes aggressively into her mid-60’s; even after two bone marrow transplants she managed to dislocate a shoulder and break each of her arms from spills off her bike.
At other times in her life she also sailed her boat on the Chesapeake, flew hot air balloons, and cross country skied.
Florence is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, and served in many callings including Cub Scout Den Leader (her favorite) and Relief Society President. She was sealed to her husband in the Manti, Utah Temple. One of the last things she said was “I love my Eternal family.”
