About Dustin Harvey Young
Dustin, 28, finished and won his two-year “marathon” with brain cancer, peacefully making his way to heaven on September 22nd, surrounded by everyone he loved.
Dustin was born on May 28, 1998, in Arlington, Texas, to Laurie and Brad Young. Texas will forever be one of his favorite places. He often talked about how he imagined heaven for himself as his home in Texas.
From a young age, he was adventurous, a lover of the outdoors, intuitive, strong-willed, faithful, someone who loved to serve, and very much adored by all who knew him.
In November of 2018, he married the love of his life, Sera (Breinholt) Young. They shared almost eight years of adventures around the world, trips to the dirt bike track together, serving one another, laughing over a campfire, and so much more. Their relationship came so easily, and their love for each other was so strong. Dustin will forever be the love of his wife’s life.
Together, they brought Tex and Colt into the world, who are forever their whole world and look just like their dada.
He was the best father to his boys. Even with his time cut short, he always prioritized being there for them. From making sure he gave tight squeezes to Tex every night before bed, cuddles on the couch, taking a pit bike ride around the block, and fighting until the very end to be there for the birth of his son, Colt, Dustin never stopped showing his boys how much he loved them. Without a doubt, he has and always will prioritize his love and care for his boys.
Dusty’s passions were strong and consistent. He loved his country and showing his American pride any way he could. From wearing shirts or hats with flags, having a truck with an American flag sticker, his dirt bike decked out in American pride, and so much more, he was never shy about showing how much he loved his country.
He loved dirt bike riding from a young age. He learned to ride a bike at the age of three, and that passion just grew from there. He spent most Saturdays at the track with his wife and friends. He spent the winter months out in the dunes with loved ones and never missed an opportunity to go. His heaven was riding on his dirt bike, with dirt on his boots and his American flag flying in the back.
His laugh was contagious. It was uniquely his and could make a whole room erupt in laughter. His humor was dry, sometimes inappropriate, but always a good time. You could always count on Dustin’s ability to make you laugh.
His faith and intuition were strong and moving to others. He seemed to always have premonitions of things that no one else seemed to know because of his strong faith. He was always very in tune with the Spirit, and it guided him throughout his life.
He always prioritized his faith, even when life got hard. He made sure that if he was sick and couldn’t attend church, he would still get the sacrament. He would still hold a calling and serve others even when he was struggling. No one needed to question his faith because it was so palpable when you were around him and saw how close he was to our Savior. He was blessed to have the veil thinner than most of us could even understand. That guided him throughout his life in serving others, building his future, and loving his family.
Above all, Dustin was the best person anyone could know. He has impacted so many people’s lives simply by the way he was and is. His memory will forever live on, not only in his family, but in all the lives he has touched.
His strength will never be comprehended by anyone. He beat the impossible. The words warrior, fighter, champion, courageous, and brave-hearted come to mind for those who knew him. He has finally hit the finish line of his marathon and won his battle to heaven.
Dustin is survived by his wife and children, Sera Young, Tex Young, and Colt Young; his parents, Brad and Laurie Young; as well as his siblings, Audrie, Marianne, Amber, Brad, Kris, Nick, and Zach. Plus so many more lives he has touched.
His celebration of life will be held on September 29th at 11:00 a.m. at:
