About Donald Kenneth Gilleo

On April 7, 2026, Donald Kenneth Gilleo passed away unexpectedly at the Lund House in Gilbert Arizona. He had been battling infection in his legs and feet for years.

Don was born on December 2, 1959 in Montgomery Alabama. His family moved to Phoenix Arizona when he was 3 years old. Then in 1971, his family moved to Mesa Arizona, residing at 951 West 9thplace for over 35 years.

Don was preceded in death by his father and mother, Donald and Earline Batmon Gilleo. He is survived by his sister, Pati (Mike) Finn and younger brother, Ronald (Marie) Gilleo.

Don attended Carson Junior High and Westwood High School in Mesa. He was active in Boy Scouts and earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Don served two years for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints in the Finland Helsinki mission from 1979 to 1981. Upon returning from his mission, he attended Brigham Young University, graduating with a degree in International Relations and Finnish.

Don became a letter carrier for the US Postal Service and spent 25 years delivering mail to his church family and the neighborhood in which he lived. He knew firsthand who was receiving wedding invitations and mission calls over the years.

Don was an avid reader, with a library that included hundreds of books on American History and World War II military operations. He was a life- long member of the NRA and an advocate of the second amendment.

Don was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. He had the kindest heart and was always trying to find ways to share with friends and neighbors. He will be greatly missed.

Interment will be Saturday, April 18th, at 9 am at the Mesa Cemetery, 1212 North Center, Mesa, Arizona.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 18th, at 10 am at the Mesa 20th Ward, 848 N Westwood, Mesa, Arizona.
