A Life Remembered

Obituary

Don Beck Stoker, 74, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away March 13, 2026 due to kidney disease.

Don was born on December 2, 1951 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Don and Donna Stoker. He had four siblings and grew up in Shelley, Idaho, where he eventually graduated from Shelley High School. He then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Japan.

Following his mission, Don attended Brigham Young University and there met his wife, Sharla. After graduating with a degree in accounting, they briefly lived in Idaho before moving to Arizona.

While he enjoyed his professional work as an accountant, Don felt even greater joy in raising his ten children. He was a natural with babies and toddlers and could often be found holding them (and sneaking them sweets).

Don was a quiet and unassuming man, but when he did chime in, he kept us all laughing. He was quick to love and serve his family, and we will miss him dearly.

Don is survived by his wife, Sharla; siblings Kristie, Gary, Johnnie, and Mark; children Scott (Amber), Paul (Jenny), Ben (Tabitha), Cassie (Brigham), Teresa (Nate), Todd (Josh), Mark (Suzy), Jeff (Marshelle), Becky (Tyler), and John, 24 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 28th at 10:00am with a family gathering prior at 9:00am at 2549 N 32nd St, Mesa AZ 85213.

Messages of Love

From family and friends

Don and I were good friends. Especially in Junior High. I walked to his house every morning and we walked together to go to band class. We both played the trombone. He was a jokester. I remember playing on some farmland that was just east of the junior high. He talked me into peeing on an electric fence one time. And believe me, that is something you do not want to do twice. I still have not forgiven him for that--just kidding. May your legacy live on!

My wife and I were classmates of Don in High School, and I frequently met with Don while he attended ISU and we drove around Pocatello and to his home in Chubbuck. I am not sure how that old blue Chevrolet pickup kept running. I will always remember his sunny disposition and of him constantly being a jokester. May your family always remember the good times you shared together and may you be comforted at this time.

My wife Linda and I are classmates of Don from the class of 1970. Please accept our condolences and condolences of the Shelley High Class of 1970.

Sharla, I want to send my love and tell you and your family how sorry I am to hear of Sonny's passing. As was so aptly said in the beautiful obituary, He was a quiet, unassuming kind, great man. May you find peace in the days to come. I will certainly remember you all in my prayers. Love You, Pat ❤️🙏
