About Brenda Jean Overson

There are no words that can truly capture the loss of someone as pure and extraordinary as Brenda Jean Overson. On July 22nd, 2026, at 61 years of age, she passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by the love and comfort of her devoted husband, her children, grandchildren, and cherished loved ones. She filled the world with the most profound unconditional love a person can ever know. She was full of grace, courage, empathy, forgiveness and charity. She touched countless lives and was the pillar of strength and faith in our home. She taught us to love each other, to love God, to always put Him first, and she never wavered from those beliefs. She always wanted those around her to feel loved, involved, cherished, and never forgotten. She was a protector, a source of comfort, and a steady foundation for her children and anyone she had the opportunity to touch and bless with her love.

Brenda was born to James and Alice in Willcox, AZ on December 30th, 1964, and entered the world hand in hand with her twin sister Debra, whom she shared a remarkable bond with. Her greatest interests and passions in life were her family and living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She filled her life with creativity, music and service to her church and family.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Pat Overson, 9 children: Ivan Hancock (Megan), Zelan Hancock, Bre Redfern (Taylor), Jacob Hancock, Nick Hancock (Julia), Brittany Downs (Eric), Matthew Hancock, Lindsey Putman (Beau) and Brett Overson (Melissa). 18 Grandchildren: Jaxen, Kytin, Zane and Lincoln Hancock, Isaiah and Archie Redfern, Zara and Zack Hancock, Scarlett and Charlotte Downs, Kash, Roxy, Jasper and Rex Putman, Jaylee, Kade, and Cam Overson. Her oldest sister, Nancy Cook, twin sister, Debra Petitt (Aaron), and younger brother, Duane Amalong (Dawn). Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, James and Alice Amalong, a brother, Gary Amalong, a sister, Karen Amalong, a nephew, Abram Petitt, and a grandson Wyatt Putman.

Brenda’s example, purity, and light will remain in each of our hearts and every heart that she inspired. She will be immeasurably missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. Funeral services will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Kenworthy Building, 39477 N. Kenworthy Rd., Queen Creek, AZ 85140 on Saturday August 1st, 2026, at 10am preceding the services there will be a public viewing from 6-8 on Friday July 31st, 2026. Brenda is Energy! Whether it was movement or not, you could feel her special energy and love of life every time you either talked to her or saw her in person. Her love of Family is in all that she did and will continue to do, even though she’s on the other side, I know that her spirit will ever be present. Her energy will ever be felt in those who loved her and knew her! Let us each strive to live with her Faith!

Pat, my deepest condolences for your loss. I have experienced it twice. I lost my second husband a year and a half ago. I miss the companionship. For the first year I was on cruise control, settling affairs and getting my own affairs in order. I became very close to my sons during this time and have a great relationship with them. You have wonderful children and your bonds will become even stronger.

Dear Pat, Vicki and I were so sorry to hear of Brenda's passing. Even though we didn't know her very long we knew that she was a truly beautiful person and wish that we had known her longer. Her loving spirit was evident in all that she did for others and in the beautiful messages that she sent in Christmas cards. We pray that Heavenly Father will bless you and your family with love and peace by helping you remember all of the good memories and happier times that you shared with Brenda. Please call or stop by if you want to visit or need moral support. Our love and prayers are with you! Wayne &Vicki
