Betty June Thompson

Betty J. Thompson of Tempe, AZ passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at her home in Tempe. Betty was born on June 23, 1934, in Grapevine, Texas to the late John Curtis and Odessa Jane (Lowe) Miller. She and her family moved to Mesa, AZ within the first year of her life. Betty married Raymond E. Thompson of Chandler, AZ on November 17, 1979. Betty is survived by her dear husband of 46 years, her children Lois (Bob) Tester of Rathdrum, ID; David (Tonya) Knutson of Phoenix, son-in-law Don Vogl of Arch Cape, OR, her stepchildren, Julie (Jeff) Whitling of Knox, PA and Brenda Blair of Knox, PA. Betty leaves 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Sisters-in-law Sara and her husband Bob Siebert of Ocala, FL, Linda and her husband Gerry Best of Knox, PA, Alma Thompson of San Angelo, TX, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Betty graduated from Mesa High School in 1953. She went on to earn her LPN education at the Licensed Practical Nursing School in Great Falls, Montana. She then graduated from the Church of God College in Anderson, Indiana where she received her RN degree. Betty was a wonderful nurse working twenty-five years in many different areas. She worked as the Director of Nursing in several places, to include general and psychiatric care.

Betty was preceded in death by her daughter Betty J. Vogl, her son, F. Edward Knutson, grandson Bobby John Tester and siblings.

A visitation will be held Friday, March 13th from 11:00am-12:00pm followed by a service at the Bunker Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa. A private family burial will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Valley of the Sun Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler.
