To Mr. DeWitt’s family, I’m very sorry for your loss. It’s my hope that you can draw comfort and strength from Jehovah God’s promises in the Bible at Revelation 21: 3, 4 and John 5: 28, 29 that there will soon be a time when there will be no more pain, sickness, or death, and we will see our dead loved ones again. Please accept my deepest condolences.

Danny was an amazing guy! When he was at the house he would tease me and my kids. He was close to my brother Jeff Wilde they went to the same mission and when he got home they went back to visit Venezuela. We will miss you Danny, RIP!

Danny had immediate impact and personality from day one in the MTC when we were roomates and companions. He wore sunglasses all day. I aksed why and he showed me the cut above his eye. He was upset with his brothers for taking him out and getting into fights for fun right before he was going into the MTC. Danny came from some pretty tough stock and he was pretty fearless most all of the time. He was happy person and loved to be inclusive and be the master of ceremonies. He is a wonderful person. I could not imagine my life from 1982-1984 with Danny being a part of it and for all the great times and conversations we have had since then. Wishing you all the best!

correction “and not companions”, Elder Anderson was his companion, mine was Elder Funk.

Lisa and Family,
So very sorry for your loss. It has been many years that we’ve seen you all, but we will always remember the laughter Danny provided to a group large or small and his willingness to lend hand. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time…

My deepest sympathies to the entire DeWitt family. Danny was uniquely down to earth and personable. He touched so many lives in such a positive way, including mine. I am very saddened to hear of his passing, but I have many cherished memories growing up with him in the 70’s and early 80’s. In recent years, it was always a hoot to run into him around town to catch-up and reminisce. He would always greet you with a smile, that one-of-a-kind laugh, and a warm, heartfelt embrace… that’s just the way Danny was. In an increasingly fake world, he was real, and I am a better person for having known him.

To Anyone that has spent significant time with Danny, or to those that have merely come in contact with him for an hour, let me say that words are not possible to adequately describe what Danny Dewitt, …or just “Dewitt,” was to to all of us. Better… to use an analogy. Danny is the Sunlight, …the Sun, and we all bask in his warmth. We are all touched by it. We all need it, We all look up to it and take it for granted. When it’s gone, we want it back. When it’s here, we live. We thrive. There will never be a day in this life or the next where I don’t look out and see him. He’s there shining down. I honestly mean it. He is larger than life. Just think of the impact he has had on so many lives, even those he only meet for a second. Can you honestly say that about anyone else you know? Dynamic. Crisp. Piercing. Branded. I have known thousands of people in my life, come in personal contact with hundreds, and have gotten to know many. There are many that I admire. There are many that I respect. That being said… I have only known one person in this life that I truly felt I would follow into the depths of Hell Itself. There has only been one person who I have ever truly looked up to, even now…., and want to be like, and that was Danny Dewitt.
Rest In Peace Dude! I love you!

Few in life will know such a friend as Danny, a man with a good heart, always greets with a smile, wants to know how you are doing (how are you really doing he would then say), I will always remember his laugh and his kindness! Lisa and family you will never know the love that I have for this man and feel thankful to have known him. I have had a heavy heart this week as I have contemplated the difficulty and change you are all faced with, you are a strong family and in time will overcome the despair and grief that this loss has brought. I know the Lord will strengthen you and loves you!
My Prayers are with you,

I am still in North Dakota but will be coming home soon in December. I will make en effort to visit with you when I return. Danny had something of mine I hope to be able to retrieve. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you and your family and that you will all get through this and become stronger because of it. May the Lord bless and keep you in His loving arms.

He was my brother’s good friend in HS. Once he flipped u-y on Maine to come back and check on me. I was on a bike talking to a friend from elementary school who looked a bit unsavory. He was a good person like that, watching out for others. I’m sorry for your loss.

Lisa-no words can tell you how sorry I am. I pray Heavenly Father will give you peace.

We have so many great memories… Danny was always good for a laugh, and had more charm and charisma than the law should allow. We’ve appreciated and enjoyed the friendship between our two families for many, many years. Lisa, please know that you and your kids have been, and will remain in our thoughts and prayers.
