About Robin MacPhee Brown
With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, Robin Macphee Brown. She was called home on April 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving husband, Gary, and 6 of her wonderful children.
Robin-Radiant, Romance, Resplendent, Reassuring, Reverent, Remarkable
Robin was a radiant woman. She was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada on September 28th, 1943, to parents John MacPhee and Barbara Redd. Robin was the oldest of five girls. When her father passed away in a plane accident, Robin was raised by her mother with the help of Grandma Redd and the Redd aunts, who she adored. She loved to tell stories of her life in Canada, particularly what it was like to live in a small town like Raymond. Although she lived most of her life in the United States, part of her heart always belonged to the wildflower-filled hills of her beloved Alberta.
Robin’s romance began when she met Gary James Brown. It was the perfect fairytale–two kids from small neighboring Canadian towns, who didn’t meet until Gary, who had moved to Mesa, AZ as a teenager, came back to Canada looking for a date. He met Robin at her work in Waterton. They fell in love and married in 1966. Robin and Gary spent the entirety of their lives together in Mesa, Arizona, where they raised their children. She ensured that their home together was a loving, happy place, which continued well into her children’s adult lives. Their marriage has lasted for 59 years, during which they were blessed with 7 children, 24 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
Robin was resplendent. She loved gardening, something that influenced her to study Zoology at Brigham Young University. Throughout her life she continued to learn more about the world around her, and could point out many species of mushrooms, lichens, and other flora. When taking her family on nature walks, she would always end up trailing behind, as something interesting would catch her eye. Robin also loved reading. A great day for her would include some rain, a great book, and wonderful treats! Whenever the conversation turned to books, she could talk at great lengths about her recommendations.
Reassuring and comforting, Robin was a good friend to everyone. She was a calming presence in a crisis, and her door was always open to those in need. Robin was a strong shoulder to lean on whenever you needed something. She had her own life challenges of losing a son at age one and a house fire the following year. She took those life challenges and taught her children who to turn to when seeking comfort and refuge-our Savior Jesus Christ.
Robin was also reverent. She had strong faith in Jesus Christ, and spent many years in service to her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in the Holy Temple. Her home was filled with reminders of her dedication.
Robin was a remarkable homemaker; something her children can attest to. Attending Sunday dinners was a must, and holidays with her were even better! She kept a fully stocked treat cupboard, which anyone could get into whenever they wanted. Robin said to all her visitors that if anyone went hungry at her house, it was on them! Her home was filled with fun conversation, sound advice, and good food. It was a blessing to be a member of her beautiful family.
The recipe that Robin followed for her wondrous life involved her large family (seven children, their spouses, grandchildren and their spouses, and great grandchildren), a sprinkling of pets, businesses, adventures, and equal parts success and heartbreak. She is survived by her eternal companion, Gary Brown, her mother Barbara MacPhee, her sisters Barbara Salmon, Jeannie Vance, Maureen Smith, and Libby Gee, her children and their spouses, and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
