About Ila Fern Reid Taylor
With deep love and gratitude for a life richly lived, family and friends honor and celebrate the life of Ila Fern Reid Taylor, who passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, just a few days before her 92nd birthday.
Ila was a remarkable wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose presence left an enduring mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Ila was born on April 21, 1934 in Springville, Utah to Charles and Monta Reid, and had four younger brothers: Marvin (MaryEllen), Donald “Duke” (Joan), Fred (Linda), and Roger (Diane).
Ila was married and sealed to the love of her life, Con Lloyd Taylor on November 19, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. This beautiful couple were lovingly devoted to each other and to their daughter Cindy and three sons: Brad, Stuart, and Craig. Ila’s children returned that love and will always adore and cherish their mother for dedicating her life to blessing theirs.
Ila is survived by her children Cindy (Bill) Cook, Brad (Diane), Stuart (Kim), and Craig (Kim), brothers Fred and Roger, 14 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.
Ila’s husband Con passed away on February 27, 1984 at the age of 52. During Con’s long bout with cancer, Ila became a fortress of strength for her children as she provided continual guidance and counsel, and encouragement to live the gospel, doing so with exemplary courage and faith.
Ila spoke often about her joy of returning to her heavenly home to be reunited with her beloved Con.
Ila’s love for her family confirmed that she looked forward to being reunited with her parents and her brothers Marvin and Duke and other family members who have passed on.
Blessed with a happy countenance, an inquisitive mind, and a generous heart, Ila approached life with humility and quiet determination and an unwavering belief in the power of love and kindness and living the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a devoted life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Ila loved serving as a temple worker in the Mesa Arizona Temple for many years.
Ila has left a legacy of grace, strength, integrity, and love for her family and friends. She earned respect through hard work and a willingness to uplift others along the way. Ila had the ability to inspire those around her to strive to be their best selves. The world of Ila’s family and friends is a better place because of her loving and positive influence.
Ila had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued. It was so fun to be with and laugh with Ila, and to have meaningful conversations with her. Ila’s love was authentic and unconditional. She connected with people and made friends easily and reached out to those who appeared to need a friend.
Ila found joy in simple things like dancing, walks, swimming, car rides, interesting animals and places, beautiful music, inspiring landscapes, memorable life stories, fun conversations, and moments of reflection.
Ila’s light and influence continues in the lives she touched, the values she lived, and the memories that will be cherished forever.
Ila will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know and love her.
