About Paul Torres Samarripa
Paul Torres Samarripa passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of November 30th, 2025 in Queen Creek, Arizona at the age of 80.
He is predeceased by his parents, Ignacio and Martina, brother Augustine and his beloved wife of 37 years, Sharon.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his 5 younger siblings; Timotea, George, Angie, Ygnasio Jr and Susan. His son Christopher, daughter-in-law Angela and 4 beautiful granddaughters. Daughter Christie and her husband Michael. A large extended family including nieces, nephews, cousins, numerous friends and strangers alike.
He was born in Wharton, Texas on May 7th, 1945 and raised on a farm. The family moved to Arizona in 1952 residing in Buckeye. He attended Buckeye Union High School graduating in 1966. 3 months after graduating he was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam, rising to the rank of SP4 and serving during the Tet Offensive. After his service was complete, he explored many different areas of interest including attending community college, drag and off-road racing and mechanics, eventually landing a position with Ryder Truck Rental. He married Sharon in 1980 and together with their 2 children they built a life and raised a family.
Paul was a good man. A loyal husband and father, wonderful son and brother. He was friendly, gregarious and had an infectious laugh. He never met a stranger. He would talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime and made many friends as a result. Anyone who chatted him up knew they had met a good man and were better for have knowing him, even if only briefly. He is very much loved and will be missed by all knew him. Rest in Peace, Daddy.
A visitation will be held on Monday, 12/15/2025 at 10:00am followed by a memorial service at 11:30am at Bunker’s University Chapel at 3529 E University Chapel, Mesa, AZ 85213.
Paul will be laid to rest with Honors at 2:00pm at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, AZ.
