Jeff was Born in Salt Lake City on August 21st, 1962, to Lane and June Hickman. Jeff was the third of four children, with two devoted older sisters (Susan and Marsha) and a younger brother (Mark)
Jeff was raised in Bountiful Utah and graduated from Bountiful High School in 1980. Later he served mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint in Guatemala. When he returned Jeff attended school at Rick’s college in Rexburg Idaho where he received his Associates degree. Afterwards, Jeff studied at BYU Provo and met Lorna Penrod. They were married in the Manti UT temple on February 7th, 1987, and were soon blessed with their two children.
Jeff had a career in the banking industry working with collections and mortgage servicing.
Jeff had a passion for Trains; this fascination began when he was a young boy as he helped his father build a replica steam locomotive. From that time forward he has always enjoyed learning about, riding and even chasing steam engines. Here in Arizona Jeff became a member of Maricopa Live Steamers in North Phoenix and spent much of his free time out on the train track.
Even more than trains, Jeff loved his family, he had 8 grandchildren that he absolutely ADORED! He loved sitting with them, teaching them and entertaining them. Being a grandpa was his favorite thing!
For the last several years Jeff struggled with various health and mobility issues, during this time Jeff still made a concerted effort to care for others around him, whether they were his family, his friends, his health care team or his ward members. His goal was to always do his part and lift others in any small way he could. Many of these small acts of service have left lasting impacts and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
Funeral services for Jeff will be held on Friday September 12th at 10:00 AM with a viewing one-hour prior at 9:00 AM. The services will be held at 1050 S Hobson St in Mesa.
Jeff will be buried in Bountiful Utah at the Bountiful City Cemetery on Tuesday September 16th with a grave side service to be held at 1:00 PM.

I purchased the locomotive #263 from Lane Hickman for my friend, John Mueller. Jeff was a side treat because of that connection through his dad.
I was grateful to have reconnected via Email with Jeff this last year to inform him that we passed the locomotive to another dear friend and it now resides in Train Mountain. Jeff kept tabs on that club and told me that when he left here he was going to reside at Train Mountain and ride that loco whenever he could. If you frequent that track, you’ll know.
He’ll be there.
What a lovely soul that now has freedom to do all the things the body couldn’t .
Rest and Ride well Jeff.
keep your ams and feet in the cars at all times….
Journey safe.
