Gladys “Mary” Foley-Agathangelides, 83, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, in Gilbert, Arizona. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Gladys Newman Legner and John Legner, Sr. on January 30, 1942.
Mary led a joyful and fulfilling life centered around her family, faith, and community. With a love of learning and a generous heart, she touched the lives of many as both a teacher and a friend. She enjoyed traveling, baking, and decorating cakes, and she found joy in being surrounded by people. Deeply involved in her church, Mary lived her faith daily and shared it warmly with others. Her vibrant and inquisitive personality will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Raymond Foley and Demetrious Agathangelides; her brother, John Legner, Jr.; and her sisters, Theresa Legner, Patricia Blair (Walter) and Bernadette Lanham (William).
Mary is survived by her adoring siblings Louis Legner, Rita Millard (Mitch), and Karen Bressler (Kevin). She leaves behind a large and loving family, including her children and grandchildren:

- Richard Foley (late Kathelene), Leo Foley, Henry Foley
- Philip Foley (Gretchen), Markis Foley, Matthew Foley, Owen Rose, Colin Rose
- Patrick Foley (Heather), Connor Freeman
- Gerald Foley (Sandy), Lance Foley, Crystal Foley
- Angela Smith (Charles), Jacob Smith, Spencer Smith (Hayden), Isaac Smith, Rachel Frey (Hayden)
- Athena Haley (Justin), Logan Haley, Taylor Haley
Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 8, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 440 E. Elliot Rd., Gilbert, Arizona.
In lieu of flowers, donations to your local schools are suggested.
