About Gary Malcolm Patchett
Gary Malcolm Patchett, of Mesa, AZ, died peacefully on Sept. 14, 2025, leaving a space in the hearts of his loved ones that can never be filled.
Gary was born on July 27, 1941 in Syracuse, NY to Clarence Patchett and Marjorie Blair Patchett.
He met the love of his life, Geraldine Alford, and they were married in the Logan, Utah temple in 1961.
Gary’s dedication to his work for the Federal Highway Administration, the Bureau of Reclamation and a number of other government entities was second only to his dedication to his family and faith. Gary and Geri’s missionary service led them to travel the world, where they served in both New Zealand and Ukraine, and Gary’s work led them around the country, living and serving in more than 10 different states. Gary’s quick wit and his quiet humility touched the lives of people everywhere he worked and served.
Gary is survived by his loving wife Geri, his three siblings (Donna, Rick, and Phil), his five children (Brian, Bill, Noelani, Keven, and David), plus his 21 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Gene, and his grandson Jared.
Visitation will be Sept. 19 at 6:30pm at the LDS Chapel at 745 N Val Vista Drive, Mesa, AZ 85205.
Funeral services will be Sept. 20 at 10am at the chapel.
He will be interred at the Mariposa Gardens & Cemetery in Mesa.

I love love love the Patchett family. It saddens me to hear that Gary has passed away, what a wonderful man.
I’m sorry that we can’t be there as you know, we’ve moved to Utah. May the Lord comfort you at this time Geri. May you cherish all the wonderful memories that you two created. Love, Paul and Kelly Thompson.

I had the privilege of serving in Vinnytsia, Ukraine, alongside Elder and Sister Patchett. It is true that Elder Patchett had such a quick wit, and Sister Patchett was as sweet as could be. They not only served and blessed the people of Ukraine, but they also generously loved and supported us young missionaries. To me, they were like stand-in parents and trusted adults at a time when I needed that most. I will always be grateful for the special, unique time we shared together. Please know I’m sending my love and prayers to your family during this time.

Well in receiving this news
, Maile and I were both joyful and sad. Joyful for all the memories created, the youth and branch temple trips, the service projects, the endless food discussions and a couple of steak attacks ha ha ha, the changes made in people’s lives as a branch president and the friendship and advice. Thank you president. I did end up doing an MBA, thank you for the push. We are so grateful for the privilege of having stayed with you both in Mesa, experiencing great Mexican food, loving your beautiful Temple, being wowed by the Easter pagent and of course the steak lol, and most of all, spending time with you and meeting your lovely family. Sad for you especially Geri, for not having your husband present for a while. God bless you. Love always, Keith and Maile from Palmerston North.
