About Eston Duane Catlett

Eston Duane Catlett passed peacefully on October 7th, 2025, in Gilbert, Arizona, with his beloved wife Patricia by his side.

Born in Carlsbad, California, Eston was the fourth of six children.

Eston lived a life marked by faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, devotion to prayer, his family and was known for his sharp mind and sharper wit. He was an accomplished artist, poet, writer and loved to play his guitar in worship to his Heavenly Father.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War with the 54th Signal Battalion, and later built a long career with Pacific Northwest Bell, retiring in 1990.

A passionate genealogist, Eston spent years tracing and preserving the Catlett family history, connecting generations across the country. He also served faithfully as Facilities Manager at The City Church in Kirkland, Washington, for 17 years.

Eston was preceded in death by his parents, Eston Berry and Ellen, and brothers Reuel Dean and Gary Wayne. Eston is survived by Patricia, his wife of 61 years; sons Duane Paul and David; grandchildren Evan, Josh, Emilie “Adi” and Sara; great-granddaughter Rhiannon; siblings Mayda Jean Reynosa, Melba June Peterson, and Homer Leon Catlett; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the stories he preserved, and the family he loved so deeply.

One of Eston Duane’s favorite verses was the Aaronic Blessing in Numbers 6:24-26:

The Lord bless you, and keep you;

The Lord make His face shine on you,

And be gracious to you;

The Lord lift up His countenance on you,

And give you peace.

    Thank you for your note. Our daughter Sara read this at the funeral service, reflecting on the warm friendship her Grandpa Eston had with you and the other pastors and staff at The City Church. From our family to yours, thank you.

    Missing my brother already and a little jealous of that big family reunion going on! What a wonderful turnout with so many coming to show their deep love and respect for him and support for Patricia. I will miss that quick wit and that memory he had of our childhood days, the almost daily emails or text messages he sent with a spiritual message and the prayers for our family and friends. Eston Duane, you are forever in my heart!

    I met Eston Duane in April of 1964 when we’re both at Fort Gordan Georgia . I was a self described basket case badly in need of a big brother . Eston Duane came thru for me.

    We kept in touch over the years and had occasional visits .

      Thank you, Mike. You were a great friend and confidant of my Dad’s and I was able to share about your lifelong friendship with him at the funeral service.

    We have been reminiscing about Uncle E.D. Mom says he (and Gary) always teased her about the way she pronounced words. And family folklore tells a woeful story about a little girl just trying to have some fun and her uncles removing the “poppers” from her popper toy!
    We are thinking of you all and sending our love. Love, Ronie, Elfriede and family.

    Will the circle be unbroken, bye and bye Lord, bye and bye.
    There’s a better home a waitin’, in the sky Lord, in the sky.

      Thank you for the note here and the amazing flowers that flanked my Dad’s pine box (yes, he really wanted a pine box!). Our daughter Sara read your condolence note at the funeral service, which brought a smile and a chuckle from everyone.

    Eston was one of the kindest, sweetest, most faith-filled men I knew. He was always happy and helpful to anyone. Truly, he was one of my favorite people and I know that I will think back about him with happy memories for many many more years.
