Nancy Sue Martin passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021, while in the care of Hospice of the Valley. She fought a valiant four-year battle with cancer.

Nancy was born March 1, 1942 to Willard and Martha Day in Hartford City, IN. Moving to Mesa, Arizona in 1947, Nancy never forgot her Indiana roots or lost her Hoosier “twang”. Graduating from the “old” Mesa High in 1960, she attended and completed her education at Arizona State University followed by a 30-year teaching career at Scottsdale and Chaparral High School. Nancy and her husband spent many summers touring many states and landmarks in their motor home. Upon retirement they moved to Bend, OR where they spent 20+ years.

While in Bend, Nancy became affiliated with the Assistance League of Bend serving in many positions and eventually becoming President. She continued to serve as a national committee member.

In 2014 Nancy moved back to Mesa where she and her sister “Trish” enjoyed the last seven years together. Neither could have been happier with the arrangement. While only back in “Jackrabbit” country a short time she enjoyed the class of 1960 high school monthly luncheons. She became a member of PEO chapter Z and looked forward to Thursday bridge as well as the annual PEO marathon bridge group.

Nancy is predeceased by her parents and her loving husband, Willie C. [Bill] Martin. Surviving is son, Christopher Wayne Hall [Kirsten], grandsons Garrett and Kyle, her sister Patricia Stabler and nephews Tom, Darren and Brian.

Nancy had a special quality that made everyone who met her want to be her friend … and she was. She leaves many friends in Bend, Mesa, and RVers around the country who remember her fondly.

Nancy’s cremated remains will be forever in Eaton, IN next to her parents.

Godspeed, Nancy, until we meet again.

On June 8, 2021, Frederick Alan Willyerd decided to go for an extended visit to his father and first born daughter, Keri Linn Willyerd. He died at his home in Mesa, Arizona with his family and friends around him.

He was born on October 16, 1948 to Frederick Archibald Willyerd and Joyce Lucille Sorensen in Douglas, Arizona. Though his mother had hoped for a little girl, she took her brand new baby boy home in a shoebox.

Growing up in San Mateo, California, Fred graduated from high school in 1967. Then he attended the College of San Mateo for a short period before serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Northern States Mission. He served faithfully for 2 years. After returning home he attended Brigham Young University.

At Brigham Young University he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Youth Leadership with an emphasis on Scouting. During his college years, he met his sweetheart, Nancy Darlene Smith and married her in the Salt Lake Temple on August 24, 1973.

Together for 47 years, they raised four children: Stephen Pereira, F. Anthony Willyerd, Jonathan Willyerd and Crystal Willyerd Dalene. Fred and Nancy kindly opened their home to other children as well, including their two oldest grandchildren Preston and Greg Pereira. During his lifetime, Fred welcomed 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

To support his family, Fred took his degree from BYU and started a career with the Boy Scouts of America. He loved helping young men at Summer camp, and brought his family along nearly every year. After 11 years in Scouting, Fred and Nancy took their family to Arizona where he changed  his career to Juvenile Probation Officer for Maricopa County. He retired from Juvenile Probation after 26 years.

Fred earned the rank of First Class in the Scouting program; and he encouraged every young man he could, including his own sons, to earn their Eagle Scout.

Throughout his short 72 years on Earth, Fred showed his love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ as he taught his children. During his career, Fred served a mission with the Arizona Mesa Mission. After retirement he served two more missions with the Record Operation Center for FamilySearch. He frequently showed his Christlike love to all he met. As we remember Fred, let us honor him by following his example and loving one another.

Regina Rose Lemos
04/22/1958 - 06/06/2021

Lemos, Regina Rose Wilson, 63, passed away on June 6, 2021 in Phoenix, AZ.
She was loved and comforted in her last moments on earth.
Regina, known to many as Gina, was born in Pekin, IL on April 22, 1958 to Rienettie
Rose Turnpaugh Martin and Herbert Wilson. Her father, Herbert Wilson, would pass
away when Gina was a young girl. She would be raised by her mother and her step-father,
Roland Martin, who helped raise her as his own.
During her childhood she would move to Tempe, AZ with her family. After marriage,
she would move to Mesa, AZ and establish her life there.
Gina was a very tenderhearted soul and proved she was capable
of the most difficult circumstances a mother could endure. Her life would include a
daughter and two sons. Patrick, her first son, would have a very short life here on
earth but would be preparing a place for his Mom and his brother. Gina would have
a second son, Justin, who was born with multiple health issues. She tended to his every
need and was his advocate his entire life due to his mental and physical handicaps.
Caring for Justin was a 24/7 job and she did it without complaint and with an
abundance of love. Gina sacrificed her life to make the world a better place for Justin.
He lived to be twenty one years old, this was 100% due to her devotion in caring for
him.
She lived life not wanting or needing much but strived to serve others. She was a quiet
person who would not stand out in a room. She was a true and genuine friend. She was easy to
joke with. She always wanted to be a better baker. She loved to craft. She always wanted to learn
new hobbies. She loved to read and enjoyed growing her library. Although she
already had her hands full, she would make sure the front yard was perfectly mowed,
watered and her rose bushes were always perfectly trimmed.
On a daily basis you could and a cold Pepsi with a bendy straw in her hand or near her at all
times. Most times there was a dish with M&M’s on the end table. It could be in a holiday
M&M dish or just a cute bowl. Her home was her sanctuary and she made sure to
keep it comfortable and clean for any visitors who may have stopped by. If you were
fortunate enough to have known Gina on a personal level, you earned her trust
and were able to understand what a true friend is.
Regina is preceded in death by her parents, her son Patrick and her son Justin.
Regina is survived by her daughter, Rachael Rose Ridley, son-in-law, Mark Ridley and her grandchildren,
Eliza, Alan, Rhiannon Rose and Layne.

Bonnie Jeanne Taylor
05/10/1937 - 06/01/2021

Bonnie Jeanne Reaves Taylor, 84, passed away on June 1, 2021, in Mesa, Arizona.  She was born May 10, 1937 to Bernard Jackson Reaves and Margaret Jane Cardon in Tucson, Arizona.  She grew up in El Paso, Texas where she attended Austin High School.  She went on from there to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from BYU and taught second grade for several years.  On September 11, 1957, Bonnie married her childhood friend, Robert Lloyd Taylor, in the Mesa Arizona Temple, and they were fortunate to have celebrated over 63 years together.  After moving around to a few different places while Robert worked his way through dental school and military service, they settled in Tempe to raise their four children, Kathleen Jeannette Taylor Banister (Christian), David Alan Taylor, Michelle Taylor Bailey (Curt) and Michael Lloyd Taylor (Michelle).  After the kids were raised, they retired to Gilbert, Arizona.

Bonnie led an active life filled with family and friends and didn’t mind the occasional spotlight.  She was the lead majorette at her high school.  At BYU, she was a Cougarette and sang in the BYU Opera Workshop Chorus.  Later, she performed with the Sweet Adelines singing group.  She was a good cook and never shied away from a “useful gadget” on QVC.  She loved making enchiladas and Texas sheet cake and passed this love on to her kids and grandkids.  She faithfully served in many church callings including a fulltime mission in Palmyra, New York with her eternal companion.

Bonnie loved traveling all over the world.  She visited Germany, England, Hawaii, and eventually took her dream trip to Israel.  She also loved their family trips to Lake Powell and the beaches of California.  Robert and Bonnie loved cruising and taking trips to New England.

Bonnie especially loved spending time with her nine grandchildren, Max Banister and Anika Banister (Kathleen); Amanda Taylor (David); Kayla MacNeille, Taylor Bailey, and Tori Clouse (Michelle); Emily Udall, Macy Taylor, and Avery Taylor (Michael); and her two great-grandchildren, Cannon and Bailee MacNeille.  Without question, her favorite thing to do with this cast of characters was to watch them perform Must Be Santa each year at the family Christmas party.  The kids always complained but she knew they loved it!

We love her, and she will be sorely missed, but we are happy for her reunion with her parents and those others who preceded her.

There will be a viewing held on Friday, June 11, 2021, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church building at 3572 E Guadalupe Road, Gilbert, Arizona 85234.  The funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, June 12, at the same church building, with a visitation beginning one hour prior to the service at 9:00am.  Interment will be at the Mesa Cemetery.  The family is grateful for the reverence and respect that Bunker Family Funerals has had for Bonnie in their care.  Flowers are welcome and may be sent to their Garden Chapel, 33 N Centennial Way, Mesa, Arizona 85201.  If you would rather make a donation, please do so to a charity or organization of your choosing in her behalf.

She is survived by sons, Matthew and his wife, Megan and their two sons, Jack and Craig, Casey and his wife, Nicolle and their two sons, Buck and Mack. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Henderson, step-father Leming Henderson, father James (JL) Burnett,  step-mother, Dorothy (Dot) Burnett, brother Hugh David Burnett, husband, David Eagleburger and her beloved dogs, Frank, Fred, Bob, Lulu, and Gracie.

Ann adored her friends and family, and was available for anyone that needed to talk. We are all going to miss her smile, encouraging words, and optimism. She wanted everyone to know that she led a full life and cherished her time with all of you. She is on the other side enjoying laughter, her dogs, lunch with friends, being with her Arkansas and Texas family, and dancing with Dave.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of the Valley at 1510 E. Flower Street, Building #2, Phoenix, AZ 85014. An open house will be held in her honor from 4pm to 8pm on Saturday, June 19, 2021. Please contact the family for the location.
