Ronda (Butler) Lung, 58 passed away peacefully on March 16, 2022, in Phoenix Arizona. Her transition from earth into her heavenly residence with Jesus, happened while she was surrounded by her family.

Ronda was born in 1963 and was the oldest of four children born to Ron and Margaret Butler. Ronda was born in Kansas City and during childhood, moved with her family to Pittsburg, Kansas. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1982 and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Pittsburg State University in 1986.  After college, Ronda married her College Sweetheart, Randy Lung in 1987. They remained married and deeply in love until Ronda’s passing. Ronda & Randy had two beautiful & loving daughters, Erin and Shelby.

Ronda’s highest priority in life was following Jesus Christ in His commands to love God and love other people. This was evident in the way she gave herself away in every way – serving others before serving herself. Everyone who knew Ronda adored her and her faith in Jesus. She was also known as being a loving wife and mama, who constantly doted on her family. Ronda had a superb work ethic and worked primarily in College Financial Aid for nearly 40 years. She was in her 20th year of employment with the University of Phoenix when she passed away, working tirelessly to ensure military veterans received all the financial aid due to them.

In her free time Ronda enjoyed just spending time with family and she was an avid reader.

Ronda was preceded in death by her father, Ronald M. Butler; her sister, Barbara Wilson; and her brother John Butler.

Ronda is survived by her husband of nearly 35 years Randy Lung, daughter Erin Crandall/husband Luke Crandall, daughter Shelby Lung/fiancée Devin Cagnolatti. Ronda is also survived by her mother Margaret(Horn) Butler, her sister Susan Touchton/husband David Touchton, along with multiple nieces, 2 nephews, and many grandnieces.

Johnnie Ralph Clark, Sr., age 66, beloved father, brother, uncle and grandfather passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2022.

Johnnie was born October 8th, 1955 in Mesa, Arizona to Earl Eugene Clark, Sr. and Doris Naomi Clark. Johnnie worked for the family business, Earl Clark Roofing, Inc. from the time he could hold a hammer. He and his brother, Paul Clark, became the new owners after the passing of his father, Earl Eugene Clark. He spent the rest of his life dedicated to the family business. He loved roofing and mastered all aspects of the trade. He worked his heart out, rain or shine, even during his time on chemo, which earned him the nickname “Superman.” He was the one to get down on the floor and wrestle with the kids and always had a joke to tell. Perhaps his most endearing quality was his unconditional love. He always said “I love you.” Johnnie was fun-loving and loved a good time; perhaps his favorite pastime was hitting jackpots at Casino Arizona.

Johnnie will be missed by his surviving sister, Betty Jean Springs, his brother, Paul Clark and his children, Linda Bury, Johnnie Ralph Clark, Jr., Kevin Clark and Nicholas Clark. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Eugene Clark, Sr. and Doris Naomi Clark and his brother, Earl Eugene Clark, Jr.

Services will be held at Bunker Family Funerals Garden Chapel at 33 North Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ 85201. The viewing will be held from 4-7pm (3-7pm for family members) on Friday, April 8th, 2022. The funeral service will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, April 9th, 2022 followed by the burial at Mesa Cemetery at 1212 N Center St, Mesa, AZ 85201. Clare Everett Deimler, 89, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2022, in Mesa, Arizona,  He was born in 1933, to Lloyd and Helen (Peters) Deimler in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania.

He grew up in a large family, farming near Landisburg.  Clare then joined the Air Force, serving in the Korean War and was later stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana.  While stationed at Malmstrom, he met his wife of 64 years, Donna (Cook).  After an honorable discharge, he and Donna stayed in Great Falls, where they raised their family.  He and Donna relocated to Mesa, Arizona in 1986.

He led a happy, active life filled with family and friends.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman during his time in Montana.  His hobbies and interests included gardening, woodworking and genealogy.  He was a member of the LDS church, devoting much of his time and energy to serving others.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Fay (Cook) Deimler, and children Mike (Laurie) Deimler, Robin

Reimers, Kathy Amador, Gary (Shelley) Deimler and  seven grandchildren, Meghan Anadrade,

Matthew Amador, Stephen Amador, Emily Deimler, Lindsey Reimers, Tanner Amador and Phoebe Deimler, and his siblings in Pennsylvania, Betty Woods, Mae Liskey, Irma Hoover, Christabel White, Stanley Deimler and Darlene Barnes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Romaine Stansfield, brothers Charles (Sonny) and Herman, grandson Andrew Amador and son-in-law Darrell Reimers.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at the Bunker Family University Chapel located at 3529 East University Drive, Mesa, Arizona.  Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM on March 31, 2022, at San Tan Memorial Gardens, Queen Creek, Arizona.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the LDS Missionary Fund are suggested.

Jacob Reed Stapley, 34, passed away on March 16th, 2022.  Jake lived a life filled with family, friends, music, rock-climbing, hiking, and serving in his church.  He had a way of making others feel loved  with his big hugs and warm smile.   He was loved by so many and will be deeply missed.

Jake is survived by his parents, Phil and Pat Stapley.  His siblings, Michelle Breinholt, Matt and Allie Cooper, Chase Stapley, and Jeff and Megan Allen.  He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews who he loved and adored.

There will be a visitation Thursday, March 31 at 6:00-8:00pm., at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N Centennial Way, Mesa, Az, 85201.  The funeral service will be held Friday, April 1st, at 10:00am, with a visitation being held one hour prior at 9:00 am, at the LDS chapel on 3920 E. Daniel Alejandro Elsberry entered the world on August 29th, 2002 in Upland, California. He was the welcome caboose of a large, blended family. When he was eighteen months old, his family relocated from California to Mesa, Arizona. He was still living in Mesa when he passed away on March 22, 2022. He was 19 years old.

As a child, Daniel was quiet but active. He loved playing games and watching movies when he wasn’t hanging out with one of his two close friends. He was kind, obedient, and truly cared about other people, even though he was a fiercely private individual. He was reliable and responsible. An excellent student, he earned an academic scholarship to Arizona State University upon his early graduation from Red Mountain High School. Prior to his passing, he was studying towards a degree in Information Technology at ASU Polytechnic and working as an optical technician.

Throughout his life, Daniel was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Church in many capacities beginning in his early teenage years. He loved his Savior profoundly, and frequently drew his friends into deep, intense conversations about Jesus Christ and his Gospel. He sought God in his life, and truly endeavored to walk by faith.

Danny also participated in the Boy Scout program, earning the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 14. Even after achieving this rank, he continued earning merit badges, garnering three gold palms.

Daniel was a sensitive, imaginative soul. He loved fantasy, gaming, and role-playing. He was an avid collector of figurines and swords. Often, he could be found playing Dungeons and Dragons, War Hammer, or Legend of the Five Rings. He was especially fond of dragons, and had amassed an extensive collection of them in many different forms. He also enjoyed writing; paying homage to his favorite games and movies by adding to their lore through composing works of Fanfiction. He parlayed his love of creating characters into art, commissioning drawings of his favorites from various artists.

Like most young men his age, Daniel was a pizza enthusiast. He often craved it–although he also enjoyed Firehouse Subs and the offerings at Coldstone Creamery. Each night after work, he would eat a large bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats.

His family will miss each and every one of these endearing quirks. Daniel was truly a special young man who was very much loved and valued. He is survived by his parents Eric and Patty Elsberry, his older siblings Danesa (Matt) Sovereign, Melissa (Trevor ) Johnson, Christopher (Carree) Elsberry, Mario Elsberry, and a passel of adoring nieces and nephews. His absence has left a hole in our hearts and in our lives.

Daniel L. Brewer, 82, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2022. He was born to James and Zelda Brewer in 1939.

Dan led an active life of playing football and baseball in high school, after hunting and playing softball with his father in his younger years.

Dan served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mexico for 3 years when he was a young adult.

After his mission, Dan married the love of his life, Judy Hubbard, and they raised 6 children together. To provide for his family, Dan served the City of Mesa as a manager for 3 decades. Family was everything to him, and he lived his life in service to his church and in support of anything and everything his family was involved in.

He was known to his children and grandchildren as Dad, Papa Dan, Big Grandma, or the Big Bear. He was a gentle, generous, loving soul, despite his somewhat intimidating stature.

Dan was preceded in death by his wife Judy, daughter Nancy, his parents Jim and Zelda, his brother Ron and sister Nancy.

Daniel’s remaining children, 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren will miss him greatly, as they look forward to the day when all will be reunited.

Janice Marie (Westrum) Young passed away peacefully in Mesa, Arizona on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at the age of 91.

Janice was born on September 29, 1930 in Stratford, Iowa to Ernest Westrum and Hazel (Angstrom) Westrum. She grew up on the family farm with her five siblings and graduated from Stratford High School in 1948 where she enjoyed playing on the girls’ basketball team.

Janice’s marriage to Gordon Appenzeller in March of 1949 resulted in six children: Steve Appenzeller, Tammy (Ray) Switzer, Twyla (John) Eaton, Talitha (Lonnie) Appenzeller, Kerry (BeLinda) Appenzeller, and Kip (Susan) Appenzeller. The marriage later ended in divorce.

In 1973, Janice married Ben (Mac) Young Jr., and the family blended to include Ben’s three children: Ben III, Mike, and Rose.

Janice’s professional career included positions in admissions departments at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, Iowa; Northeastern Jr. College in Sterling, Colorado; and Arizona State University in Tempe, from which she retired.

Janice enjoyed cheering for her favorite sports teams (Denver Broncos, University of Iowa, Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Cardinals) and spending time with her beloved family; she was so very proud of them all. She also loved to play bingo, and would never turn down a game of 31.

She is survived by her brothers, Verlyn (Dorothy) Westrum and Dale (Pat) Westrum; as well as her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Janice is preceded in death by Ben, her husband of 44 years; her parents; her sisters, Marjorie and Betty; her brother Norman; and her stepson, Mike.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at the Stratford Lutheran Church in Stratford. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until time of service with family present. Interment will be in South Marion Cemetery near Stratford.

Cory Glen Walker (a.k.a. The Boy Wonder, a.k.a The Real Superman), passed away on March 16, 2022. Cory was born on May 21st, 1982 in Henderson Nevada to Daniel David Walker III and Sherry Anne Mitchell. He grew up in Tehachapi, California and attended Tehachapi High School where he first assumed his secret identity of a mild-mannered reporter writing for the school paper and serving as the paper’s editor. He graduated with the class of 2000.

After high school, he flew the world doing good deeds. He spent a year in Utah studying at Brigham Young University and then served a mission to help the people of Norway from 2001 to 2003. Upon returning he met the love of his life and on May 27, 2005 he married Katie Maren McBride (Lois Lane never stood a chance).

He went back to school and studied goodness and ethics and reason, earning a B.A. in Philosophy in 2006 with minors in Logic and Humanities. Along the way, he published a paper, “Work, Worship, and Grace” in The FARMS Review. That same year he overcame a battle with cancer and started his journey towards being a cancer survivor.

He went on to learn the laws of the land; attending law school at the University of Michigan Law School from 2006 until 2009. He waited out the harsh job market of the post 2008 financial crisis in Las Vegas where he served as an Interim Law Clerk for Honorable Lloyd D. George.

He was an associate at Littler Mendelson from 2010 until 2019 when he was made a Shareholder in the firm.

His life changed forever in 2011 with the birth of twin Superboys: Christopher and Camden. From that day on he devoted his life to their protection and training. These boys are his gift to the world to continue his mission of bringing light and happiness to those they encounter wherever they may go.

In 2013 Cory, Katie, and the boys relocated to Arizona for more adventures. He was a leading attorney for a successful case before the Supreme Court in 2014. In 2015, for their 10th anniversary, Cory bought Katie their current home in Mesa: a fortress not of solitude, but of warmth and joy and love.

On April 20, 2020, just as the pandemic was in full swing, Cory branched out and joined Harvest Health and Recreation (now Truelieve) as their Senior Counsel for Labor and Employment.

Cory spent his days serving others. He had a quick wit and a charming sense of humor. When he was with you he was fully present, and you knew he cared. He saved lives both literally and spiritually and has left memories and a legacy that will not be erased. We love you Cory, our Superman, and we will try to follow your example until we can be reunited again!

Cory’s funeral will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 11 AM in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 2701 E Lehi Road, Mesa, AZ 85213. Eva Marie Wallace Stakebake, 83, returned to her Heavenly Parents’ and Savior’s loving arms on March 15, 2022 in Gilbert, Arizona surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on September 1,1938 to Sidney and Eva Wallace in Boulder City, Nevada. Marie lived a very happy and full life.  In 1958, she married her sweetheart, Ronald E. Stakebake Sr. and was blessed with three children; Ronald E. Stakebake Jr., James Wallace Stakebake, and Deborah J. Stakebake (Love).

She was a devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved studying the scriptures, serving in and attending the temple, traveling, painting with oils, crocheting afghan blankets for family members, reading novels, planning family gatherings, playing card games, swimming, and spending time with her family.  She attended Arizona State University and majored in Elementary Education. She enjoyed working at Forever Living Products for over 30 years.

Marie is preceded in death by her husband Ronald, her parents Sidney and Eva Wallace, her brother Robert, his spouse June, her brother John, her brother-in-law Heber Loveland, and her daughter-in-law Linda. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Ronald (Daunna), James (Lynice), Deborah (Thomas Love), her brother Don (Joanne), her sister Patricia (Lloyd Thayne), her brother Dean (Deanne), and her sister Martha Jean (Steve Noyes).

Her legacy will be continued through her 9 grandchildren: Sheri (Henrik), Eryn (Harrison), Ronald III, James (Rebekkah), Christopher (Katie), Kimberly (Patrick), Brittany (Devin), Tiffany (Braden), Tyler and 13 great-grandchildren: Ryleigh, Raelynn, Adrianna, Elizabeth, Travis, James, Katherine, Ryker, Brielle, Griffin, Michael, Pearl, and Logan.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 7:00 p.m., preceded by a visitation at 6:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 230 N. Val Vista Drive, Gilbert, AZ 85234. Memorial services in Ephraim, Utah are provided by Magleby and Sons Mortuary on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., preceded by a visitation at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 420 N. 200 West, Ephraim, UT 84627. Interment will be at the Ephraim Park Cemetery.

There are no words adequate enough to express our deep gratitude to the angels from Hospice of The Valley that provided comfort and care to our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. We will be forever grateful for their love and support.

Carlos Magallanes, 73, born November 4, 1948, In  San Pedro Coahuila Mexico Passed away peacefully on March 12, 2022, in Phoenix Arizona surrounded by his loved ones. He was charismatic, family-oriented, and a hard worker who lived his life to provide a better one for his family. He had an active life from a very young age working on the farm with his siblings and parents in Mexico; when he came to this country and got married to a beautiful woman named Rosa Vasquez. Who later passed away On April 19th, 2007 leaving him with beautiful children in her absence.

They raised 3 children; 2 sons Omar Magallanes, Carlos Magallanes Jr., and 1 daughter named Raquel Magallanes. He was an active farther in their life, and later on became a great grandfather to his grandkids named Angel Magallanes, Omar Magallanes, Gustavo-Adolfo Octavio Castro, Maribel Marie Castro, Demetrius Magallanes, and Gabriel Magallanes.

He was a man who enjoyed going on road trips with his grandkids throughout the US and Mexico, he was an avid sports watcher, with baseball and soccer being his favorites. Always instilling the importance of family in his family’s life. He got his children into sports and later on tried to get his grandchildren into sports although it didn’t work the second time around he still managed to be active in their life teaching his grandchildren how to drive and be proactive adults. He was able to still be active in his later age and to see his first Great grandchild named Aaron Castro; they shared the same birthday and shared a bond like no other. He lived a happy fulfilled life being able to watch over 3 generations of family in his old age.

Claudia (Pomeroy) Astle was called home March 13, 2022 in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 87. Claudia is preceded in returning to her Heavenly home by her Father and Mother, Leslie T. and Norma Walton Pomeroy, her brothers, Norman (Mae), sister-in-law, Karen (Mick), her husband, Neil L. Astle and her eldest son, Rex.

Claudia was born October 12, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was there that she and her high school sweetheart, Neil Astle, met and fell in love and were married and sealed in the LDS Temple in Salt Lake. They began building a life and a wonderful family, living in several cities over the years and visiting many others. She made many friends along the way, whom she cherished and was devoted to her entire life.

Like her beloved Grandma Walton, Claudia loved to cook and bake, and it was her great pleasure to feed anyone who sat at her table. She loved to play cards with her family and friends. Visiting with her family was her greatest joy. Claudia was an accomplished seamstress and loved outdoor activities, especially swimming. As a young woman, she was an amazing diver – a picture of her diving was even published in the Salt Lake Tribune. She also loved playing tennis. In 1979, Claudia moved to Mesa, Arizona where she resided until she was called home.

Claudia leaves behind many who will miss her, including her daughter-in-law, Kris Astle (Rex Astle), her son, Cal Eastley, her daughter, Kari Astle and her husband, Don, and her son Robert Astle and his wife, Jennifer. She is also survived by grandchildren she dearly loved: Kira Jefferson (Robert), Ashley Astle, Logan, Shayne and Kenzi Eastley, Erik Peterson (Kami), Kirstin Roper (Weston) and Kiley Kolodziej (Marc), and Chanara, Carissa and Cameron Astle. We can’t fail to mention her adorable great-grand-children: Sulivan, Gage and Rae; Davin; Kayden, Kysen, Canon, Jaxon, Harper Mae, Ellie; Ledger and Miller; and Elizabeth. Her surviving siblings are Mae Pomeroy (Norman), Mick Pomeroy (Karen), Larry Pomeroy, Ann Barney (Dennis) and Linda Lamoreaux (Edwin), all of whom she loved very much. Claudia has many nieces and nephews who also loved her very much.

Friends and family are invited to join together at her Graveside Service to say “good-bye” at the City of Mesa Cemetery on Monday, March 21 at 1:00 PM.

Elmer (Al) Lippert passed away March 8, 2022 in Mesa AZ. at the age of 80. He was very active and rode his bike every day. He was always there to help a neighbor in need. Fishing & metal detecting were also hobbies he enjoyed. He had a sharp mind & was always telling jokes. He will be sadly missed by all his family. He is survived by 3 son’s Lark Rau, Tobby Rau and Mark Lippert, 2 daughters Roxanne Gross (Harry), Stacey Dougherty (Dan) , 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Dortha Nell (Garner) Wills, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on March 13, 2022, in Chandler, Arizona. She was born on December 25, 1934, in McLoud, Oklahoma, to Thomas and Gertrude (Rowe) Garner. When she was eleven years old, her family which included her siblings: Tom, Jim, Norma Jean, Ralph (deceased), Patsy (deceased), and David, relocated to Mesa, Arizona. She attended Mesa Public Schools, which proudly led her to becoming a Jackrabbit at Mesa High. She was very delighted with the fact she obtained perfect attendance from fifth through ninth grades. During her formative years she faithfully attended First Baptist Church and demonstrated her lifelong devotion to God by living compassionately.

She married Leslie Howard Wills (deceased), the love of her life, on October 6, 1951, in Mesa, Arizona. Their love endured for more than five decades, raising their family in Scottsdale and Gilbert Arizona. They provided a home filled with unconditional love. Dortha and Leslie were devoted parents who lovingly raised seven children, Stanley Wills (deceased), Sandra (Rudy Tafoya), Sheryl (James Hayes), Debra (Greg Bullion) (both deceased), Katheryn (Ronald Lash), Tamera (David Cameron), and Doni Rae (Geoff Cadien).

Family was everything to Dortha! She truly cherished and enjoyed her seventeen grandchildren – April, Justin, Trudy, Crystle, Lisa, Matt, Jamie Renee, Travis, Brandon, Amy, Nicole, Dotti, Amber, Ryan, Leslie, Olivia, and Paige. Her favorite saying was “aren’t we so blessed” and the blessings continued to multiply with the addition of 28 great-grandchildren.

Such a fitting name, Dortha, which means “Gift of God”. Dortha was the salt of the earth with her gracious open acceptance of all personalities, her forgiving manner, and a kind love that touched everyone she met. Among many things Dortha will be remembered for her countless family Christmases at her home. The family has selected to celebrate Dortha’s life by honoring her love of Christmas. Jason Lee McKnight, 49, was called home on March 12, 2022, in Mesa, AZ. He passed peacefully from complications due to kidney and heart diseases. He is survived by his wife Joy McKnight, his children JT, Katy, and Anyssa, as well as Craig McKnight (Father), Nancy McKnight (Mother), Robert McKnight (Brother), Joey Wright (Sister), Todd McKnight (Brother), and Carrie Ashcraft (Sister). He served as a Missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, through the language of American Sign Language, in Columbus, Ohio; Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Tacoma, Washington. Jason and Joy met in Pocatello, Idaho and have been happily married for over 26 years. He lived in various states, during which he had the pleasure of meeting and reaching the lives of many. Jason worked as a Dental Consultant for over 15 years, which took him through all 50 states.

The viewing will be held at 6-8pm on Friday, March 18 at Bunker Funeral Home at 3529 E University Dr Mesa, AZ 85213. The funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, March 19 on 3345 E McLellan Rd Mesa, AZ 85213. Jason will be buried in American Fork, Utah on Tuesday, March 22; his final resting place will have a beautiful view of Mount Timpanogos. Jason’s family asks that bright spring colors, not black, be worn at all services. We will be remembering Jason’s life and celebrating the end of his mortal trials. Mrs. Linda Jane Tinker, 78, of Gilbert, Arizona passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022, at her home. She was born on October 20, 1943, in Frankclay, Missouri a daughter of the late Peter Woodrow Bobbett and Mary Elmira Kathcart. Linda was united in marriage to Larry Dale Tinker on June 10, 1961, at Leadwood Baptist Church. Two children were born to this union.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years: Larry Dale Tinker of Gilbert, Arizona; son Brent Allen Tinker and wife Susan and grandson Kai of Beaverton, Oregon; son Bradley Allen Tinker and wife Marnie of Gilbert, Arizona; grandson Jared Tinker and wife Erin and great grandkids Reed, Lucy, Weston and Colt; granddaughter Megan Tinker; grandson Logan Tinker and wife McKenna and great grandkids Brooklyn and Annalise; grandson Statton Tinker and wife Mady and great grandson Beau; grandson Harrison Tinker of Gilbert, Arizona. Two brother-in-laws; Randall Penberthy and wife Tina of Troy, Missouri; and Denny Coffman and wife Cris of Valley Park, Missouri; one sister-in-law Beverly Flora and husband Ernie of St. Clair, Missouri.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters Bettie Mae Bobbett; Phyllis Blanche Penberthy; and Bonnie Sue Coffman.

She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
