On Monday, June 6, 2022, Jerry Keith Long, loving husband, and father of four children, two stepchildren and 15 grandchildren, passed away at his home, at the age of 62.

Jerry was born on September 14, 1959, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Gloria and James Long. Jerry was called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 2 years in the Nashville, Tennessee Mission and worked as a plumber for over 40 years. He had a passion for gardening, fishing, camping, kayaking, and spending time with his family and serving in the church.

He is survived by his wife Jacque, his four children, Jason, Keith (Stephanie), Lindsey, Kourtney, his two stepchildren Brett (Melissa) and Lindsey (Beau), and his 15 grandchildren: Jerry the III, Jayden, Zachary, Keira, Rhya, Bradley, Remiel, Kash, Roxy, Wyatt, Jasper, Rex, Jaylee, Kade, and Cam and his brother Gene Long (Holly) and his sister Bronwyn Rouse. He held many positions in the church. He was proud to be in the bishopric and served the members of the Papago Ward.

Also, he was a member of the Cheyenne & Arapaho Tribe.

There will be a viewing at the Bunkers Funeral Home at 33 N. Centennial Way in Mesa, Monday, June 13, 2022, from 5 – 7 p.m.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 14, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building at 933 E Brown Rd in Mesa, at 10 a.m. with a viewing from 9 – 10 a.m.

Timothy J Jackson Jr (Timmy), 44, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2022 with family by his side.  He was born to the late Timothy J Jackson Sr and Mary Kaye Thompson on October 9, 1977 in Mesa, Arizona.  Tim was known for his compassion, willingness to serve others, his genuine kindness, his love of Christ, and his ability to make anyone laugh.  

Tim worked as a registered nurse for 12 years and helped change the lives of many patients as well as his co-workers.  He had an ability with patients to calm their troubles and truly comfort them in their time of need.  He loved to educate those around him because he always wanted to see others succeed.  He was frequently recognized within the profession for his excellence in leadership and his compassion.

Tim married Amber Neel and it was obvious that they were soulmates.  After three short years of marriage Tim was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a form of brain tumor.  He was extremely honored to participate in a clinical trial with the Ivy Brain Tumor Center with the hope to advance research for those with glioblastoma.  With the knowledge that the clinical trial may not help him, Tim was happy to be able to participate and provide data for Dr. Sanai to find a cure in the future. It was always in Tim’s character to put others first, and this was evident even during the last and most difficult months of his life. It was Tim’s full belief that he lived as long as he did because of Dr. Sanai.  

Tim is survived by his wife Amber, stepsons Jude and Maxwell, daughter Charlotte, son Timothy J Jackson III (Timmy), mother Kaye Jackson, siblings Tara Worthington (Ben), Greg Jackson, Kelli Jackson.

Tim was the light in this world that everyone needed.  Just knowing Tim made you a better person.

The funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, June 10, 2022 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints building, 2334 E Pueblo Ave Mesa, AZ 85204. A public viewing will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 North Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ 85201.

Dominic Dustin Daughtrey, age 39, passed away on June 3, 2022, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Dominic is survived by his daughter, Peyton; his parents, Doe and David Daughtrey; his siblings, Tatiana, Natasha, and Misha; and many nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his sister, Astrid.

Dominic was born on December 23, 1982, in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from Mountain View High School in Mesa, Arizona in 2001 and earned a bachelor’s degree, with honors, in Business Management, from California State University-Los Angeles in 2011.

Dominic was passionate about his work and excelled in his nearly twenty-year career as a Construction Industry Innovator, Program Manager, and Project Manager for several large construction companies, most recently at Sundt Construction (2013-2019).

Learning new technology was very important to him and in 2015 he started learning how to use drone technology in large construction projects and quickly became an expert, obtaining his drone license in 2017 and earning his team at Sundt public recognition for their drone program.

He was the recipient of prestigious awards, including the 2019 Construction Industry Innovator of the Year Award, and was proud of his numerous industry certifications and licenses. In 2019, Dominic combined his years of experience, training, creativity, and vision, and formed his technology consulting firm, Phoenix Innovation Lab.

Dominic loved having adventures with his daughter, family, and friends. He was energetic and thrived when being active. He loved teaching Peyton about science and one of their favorite activities together was building and launching rockets. He could often be found enjoying boating and jet skiing, snowboarding, being at the dunes in his Can-Am, fishing, or traveling around the world with his family.

Dominic will be forever remembered for his large, vibrant smile and infectious laugh that could fill a room, and as a much-loved father, son, brother, uncle, and friend.

Evelyn Bernice Tanner, 94, was called home to her Heavenly Parents on May 28, 2022, after a brief illness.

Born August 24, 1927, in Salt Lake City, UT to Horace Earl Pipkin and Alta Whitney Pipkin. Evelyn was a caring and loving individual who touched the lives of all who knew her. She loved doing research on her tablet and continued until her illness prevented her from doing so.

She married Norman Coy Tanner in 1944 and raised three loving children. As well as being a full-time homemaker, Evelyn was a lifelong, active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served many callings in the wards she attended in Mesa, Central, Prescott Valley, AZ and St. George, UT. She was a talented artist, sculptor, and seamstress, making her own clothing up into her 90’s.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter Michel Medlyn (Ken), granddaughters, Shari Celeste Hanson (Paul), Christina Michele Maxwell, Kimberly Kay Ross, Debra Lynn Hicks, Stephanie Kay Stahl (Clint) and Katherine Denise Kerstetter; grandson Brain John Helquist, son-in-law John Helquist, 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include sisters Joyce Carlisle, Retha Amadio (John), Ellen Jones (Lawrence) and Sharon Pipkin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Horace Earl Pipkin and Alta Whitney Pipkin, her husband, Norman Coy Tanner, and daughters Norlene Gae Helquist and Vicki Ann Kerstetter, and grandson Robert Lee Hicks.

Graveside services will be June 7, 2022, at 9:30 am, at the National Cemetery located at 23029 N. Cave Rd. in Phoenix, AZ, where Evelyn will be interred next to her husband.

Phyllis Lynam Greenlee 76, a long time resident of Mesa, Az passed away peacefully on June 1, 2022 surrounded by her family.  Phyllis was born in Starkville, Mississippi on July 3, 1945 to James Vernon Lynam Sr. and Frances Box Lynam. She was a Real Estate agent in the east valley for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution and for many years was very involved in the Masonic youth organization Job’s Daughters. While she had an incredible fear of heights she held her hot air balloon pilots license. She loved to travel with her husband, family and friends.  One of her greatest joys in life was being present for the births of her grandchildren and welcoming in her heart her bonus grandsons. She was very proud of her daughters, grandchildren and great grand sons. She is proceed in death by her parents and her brother James Vernon Lynam Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years James Bryan Greenlee, Daughters Jodie Greenlee, Jill Sclease (Rob), Grandchildren James van Arkel (Hannah), Jenna Shaver (Andrew), Joshua Sclease, Bradley Sclease and Emmalee Sclease and great grand sons JJ, Duncan and Ace as well as her brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, cousins and all her adopted kids, and grandkids. She will be immensely missed and forever loved.

Larry A. May, 78 passed away on May 26, 2022 . He served in Vietnam from November 1966-67. He was wounded on July 4, 1967 and his list of medals include: Purple Heart, Air Medal, Bronze Star,  National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal.

Larry started his career as a Park Ranger at Saguaro National Park. Other assignments were: Denver Service Center, Grand Canyon National Park, Indiana Dunes National Lake Shore, Gateway National Recreation Area, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Washington D.C., and Fort Collins. He had several foreign assignments which included: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Mexico, and Australia.

Services will be on Tuesday October 11, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Friends and family will gather at his home on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at noon.

Larry is survived by his wife, Susan, son James and his wife, Lyn, daughter, Marcella, grandsons, Christopher and Maxwell, brothers, Tom and Bob.

Rex R Whitmer Jr passed away peacefully on May 25, 2022 at the Vesta House in Chandler AZ.  Rex was born September 15, 1934 in St Johns Az.  He was a loving husband, father and brother, a veteran of the Air Force, and worked in a variety of professions.  Rex loved God, his children and his country. He loved to garden and raise animals.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and loved talking to people.  His hobbies were writing stories and poetry.  He is survived by Catherine Church, his wife of 60 years, eight of his ten children, his brother Lewis Whitmer, and many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.  He was proceeded in death by two of his children.

Jane Beach Freestone, 71, passed away on April 29th, 2022 in Mesa, Arizona. Born in 1950 to Eugene and Mary (Stauffacher) Beach in Monroe, Wisconsin, she grew up in cities all over the United States and the world as the daughter of an Air Force Lieutenant Colonel. She was a beloved sister to older brother Joseph Beach (Janis) and younger brother David Beach (Ann).  In 1975, she married Paul Freestone and became an instant mother to Jennifer Nicole Givens (Jason) of Bella Vista, AR. They then had son Michael Freestone (Heidi Reetz) of Moss Beach, CA and daughter Lindsay Johnson (Zac) of Fallbrook, CA. Her six granddaughters were her pride and joy, and she loved each of them dearly. Jane was active through her entire adult life, always seeking and conquering new challenges. She mastered any career she stepped into, including running her own thriving commercial art business, writing as a journalist, and working with students with special needs. In retirement, she served others through Kiwanis and as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in foster care. Jane made dear friends in every city she lived in through her adult life, from the University of South Carolina; to Washington, D.C.; Mesa, Arizona; San Diego, California; and New Braunfels, Texas. All who knew her, adored her and her energetic spirit. A memorial reception will be held on Saturday, July 2nd at 10:00am at Gilbert Memorial Park – 2100 E Queen Creek Road, Gilbert, AZ.

Doris Harmon Farnsworth, 90, passed away in her home on May 25, 2022 in Mesa, AZ.  She was born on August 8, 1931 in Mesa, AZ to Harvey Hubert Harmon and Eva Fenn Harmon.  She was married and sealed to her husband, Marion Beecroft Farnsworth in the Mesa Arizona Temple on January 17, 1952.  She was a homemaker and retired licensed practical nurse who served 20 years at Mesa General Hospital caring for newborn babies and their mothers.  She was a faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving many times as a primary teacher, chorister and relief society presidency counselor.  She actively maintained family histories and genealogies. 

She is survived by her sons Dale (Sandra), Blaine (Cindy), David (Tammy), Marvin (Debbie), Roy (Sandy), and daughter Shirley Black (Raymond), 37 grandchildren, 87 great-grandchildren, brothers Clarence (Cathy), Charles (Penny), Alan, and sisters Nell Lewis, Marilyn Pixler (Dick), Nancy Taylor, Susan Pope (Bill), and Jeanene McDowell (John).  Predeceased by her husband Marion and two daughters Arlene, and Annette Huish (Scott) and her brother Daniel (Toni).  She dearly loved all of her family members and treated others as family.  In return she was loved by all who knew her.  Doris was an avid quilter and created and gave many dozens of quilts to her loved ones. 

Visitation is Friday, June 3 from 6-8 PM at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa 85201.  Funeral services are Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 11 AM at the LDS Chapel, 2252 W Mesquite St, Chandler, AZ  85224.  She will be interred at Valley of the Sun Cemetery, 10940 E Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ  85248.

Larry E. Booth, 73, of Gilbert, Arizona, passed away on May 21, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Carl E. and Alice J. (nee Turner) Booth.

He served as a combat medic during the Vietnam War and was recognized by the United States Army for his honorable and distinguished service, with two Purple Heart medals. Following his military service, he graduated with a degree in Pharmacy from Butler University. Larry led a life of service through his 35-year career as a pharmacist, at times, delivering prescriptions by hand to the elderly in the local community. He retired from Albertsons in 2011.

His leisure pursuits included golfing, spending time in the mountains, soap making, DIY projects, his dog Indie, and above all, making people laugh. He could always find humor in life’s most challenging circumstances.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Carl E. and Alice J. (nee Turner) Booth and his brother David R. (Judy) Booth.

He is survived by his beautiful wife and best friend of 53 years, Pamela Booth; his 3 children Tracy (Mike) Frandsen, Michelle L. Booth, and Lindsey (Ezra) Sherman; his grandchildren Ilyas Sekandari, Aleah Sekandari, and Zoie Sherman; siblings Michael (Chris) Booth and Suzanna (Frank) Dubravetz.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Stoneridge Hospice for their compassionate care.

There will be a private celebration of life in the coming weeks and a private military honors memorial later in the fall.

Marie was called home on May 19, 2022, in Phoenix Arizona surrounded by her family by her side.

Marie was born on January 26, 1959, to John Sr. And Florence (Switala) Levonick in Philipsburg PA. Marie was involved in many activities in school growing up including cheerleading co-captain, volleyball, librarian assistant, and newspaper. Marie came to Arizona to visit her friend in 1985 and decided to move. She started working for the state at the MVD and eventually made a switch to la Mesa RV where she met Dennis all while raising her two sons (Ryan & Shaun). She ended up with a great opportunity and worked her way up to a lead sales and marketing manager at Desert Title and tag where she’s worked for the last 12 years. Marie enjoyed her job, worked hard, and was really good at it. She will be missed greatly by her work community.

Marie really loved her family and made sure they all knew. Even though she worked hard she still made time for her kids and grandkids. Often making sure they are all taken care of whether it was going to dinner, shopping (her favorite), watching the kid’s sporting events, or just hanging out. Marie has always loved Christmas time as she loved to give. Another favorite holiday was the 4th of July, with many years and cherished memories spent at Avila beach with all the family around.

“Marty J” was with her life partner aka co-pilot Dennis Linnell for over 20 years. They are quite the duo always making each other laugh and making rounds at local restaurants for dinner. They also shared many memories of traveling together to places like Lake Tahoe, Paris, Alaska, London, and Italy. But the greatest joy in their life has always been family. Meme will be greatly missed by all who knew her. “Forever and always.”

Marie is preceded in death by her father John P Levonick Sr. and her mother Florence M. “Switala”Levonick. Sister Elaine Emiline and brother John P Levonick Jr.

She is survived by her brother Richard T. Levonick of Osceola Mills. Her life partner Dennis Linnell his daughters Julie (Dennis) Hyde, Jill Templeton, Ryan (Kendra) Dale, and Shaun (Elena) Dale. Grandchildren Kyle and Bryn Hyde, Savannah, Nicholas, and Van Templeton, Aubrey and Braxton Dale, Jack and Alex Dale. Great grandchild Jace Templeton.

Robert (Rob/Bob) G. Keck, Jr. passed  away suddenly on May 19, 2022 in Mesa. AZ at the age of 74. Rob was a lifelong lover of music and followed in the footsteps of his  drummer father when he went on to become a great drummer himself. His  kindness, generosity and humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Rob was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Ginnie Keck. He is survived by his sisters Karen Meek (Denny), Kristie Smith (Bob), Kathy Butcher Koningsor (Don) and 7 nephews and nieces and 6 grand nephews and nieces.

Jerald Van Robinson, born 03 July 1937, passed away peacefully on 16 May 2022 in Mesa, Arizona after a long battle with cancer.  He was the oldest of four children born to Samuel Jerald Robinson and Flossie (Bluth) Robinson.  He will be remembered as a wonderful brother, dedicated husband, loving father and grandfather.  In his youth he was an outstanding athlete who excelled in basketball, football, track and baseball with the latter becoming his favorite.  Professionally he was a physician and became a highly skilled surgeon in the specialty of otology/neurotology.  Jerald Robinson is survived by his siblings Lucy Green, Samuel J. Robinson; Jaqueline Robinson, his wife of 55 years, and their five children J. Scott Robinson, Jenny L. Richard, Jay H. Robinson, Janet E. Grimsley and Mindy J. Smith.  He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service will be held on 27 May 2022 at 10:00am in the City of Mesa Cemetery.  The viewing will be at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ 85201 at 8:30am.

Donald Joseph Zedek Sr., born to Metro and Catherine Zedek of Spangler, Pennsylvania on January 4, 1940 passed away at his home in Mesa, Arizona on May 17, 2022.

Donald is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, MaryAnn Zedek. of Mesa, Arizona and his parents, Metro and Catherine (Bearer) Zedek, brothers Charles Zedek (Patty) and Jerry Zedek (Debra) and sister Mary Jane all of Spangler, Pennsylvania.  He is survived by his sisters Anna Mae Litvin (John) of Mineral Point, Pennsylvania and Theresa Bauer (John) of Northern Cambria, Pennsylvania.

Donald and Mary Ann were blessed with four children: Nancy Fredrickson (Don) of Pinetop Arizona, Donna Bowles (David) of Gilbert, Arizona, Sheri Hill (Karl) of Queen Creek, Arizona and Donald J. Zedek Jr. (Erin) of Mesa, Arizona.  He cherished his 12 grandchildren, Brandon Strittmatter, Brianna Mercado, Chase Fredrickson, Madison Fredrickson, Joshua Woods, Jeremy Woods, Zachary Bowles, Alex Bowles, Mirek Hill, Ditrik Hill, Ellie Zedek and Declan Zedek; and 5 great-grandchildren Brawley Strittmatter, Mason and Ryan Mercado, Keleni and Emma Latu.

Don’s life was dedicated to hard work and caring for his family.  He took great honor in serving in the U.S. Army achieving the rank of Specialist (E-4).  He received the Good Conduct Medal and the Sharpshooter marksmanship award.  After being honorably discharged from the Army, he and MaryAnn returned to Pennsylvania.  He worked as a coal miner at Barnes & Tucker Coal Company for 18 years until the mines closed in the late 1980’s.  That is when he moved his family to Mesa, Arizona where they have lived since November 1986.  He retired from Fry’s grocery store where he worked for many years.  He loved to remodel and tinker around the house.  He enjoyed hunting with his brother Jerry while he still lived in Pennsylvania and he loved joking with his kids, his grandkids and especially his wife who didn’t always appreciate his humor.  He enjoyed watching YouTube videos with his grandkids who taught him how to use technology.  He loved football and was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State fan.  He was fortunate to have attended a game or two in Pittsburgh and attended Penn State bowl games in Arizona when they were in town.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on May 25, 2022 at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ  85201 and will close with a rosary.  The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, May 26 at All Saints Catholic Church, 1534 North Recker Road, Mesa, Arizona 85205.  Donald will be laid to rest on June 7, 2022 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85024.
