Even though she lived through the Great Depression and WWII, she had a wonderful childhood in Provo, UT. In 1938 she was given free piano lessons in recognition of her amazing talent. This same year, Ruth was baptized into the LDS faith. These were her two sustaining strengths throughout her life.
