John Thomas Leslie Jr., 87,born August 6, 1922 to Annie Lou Ida Hudson and John Thomas Leslie, passed away July 1, 2010. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the US Army Air Corps. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Ellsworth Leslie, son, Michael Leslie, and son-in-law, Ben Lyman. He is survived by his six sons: Matthew Leslie, Michael (Susan) LeSueur, David (Nancy) LeSueur, Paul (Jacque) LeSueur, Chris (Linda) LeSueur, Ted (Elizabeth) LeSueur; two daughters: Ann Carter, Lori Lyman; 31 grandchildren and 53 plus great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Grace Menhenett, and brother, Bill Leslie. Visitation will be Friday, July 2, 2010 from 6:30–8:00 PM at Bunker’s University Chapel, 3529 E. University Dr, Mesa 85213. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 10 AM with a visitation at 9 AM at the Maplewood Chapel, 18305 S. Greenfield Rd in Gilbert.

Charles Reuter Haltigan “Boopa”, 77, of Scottsdale, Arizona, devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away on June 27, 2010. Charles was born in Clarkdale, Arizona and lived his entire life in Arizona. He is preceded in death by his mother, father and brother Bill. Charles is survived by his loving wife of more than 55 years, Garry Lou, his daughter Lynn (Lonnie) Slawson, grandchildren, Trevor & Kylie Slawson and sister, Dorothy. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 1 at 10:00 AM at the LDS Chapel, El Dorado Ward at 2202 N. 74th St., Scottsdale, preceded by a visitation at 9:00. Burial services will take place at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Arrangements by Bunker’s Garden Chapel.

Sharon Ann Jackson, 68 entered into heaven’s gates from her Mesa home on June 25, 2010. She was born April 7, 1942 in Mesa, AZ. She is survived by daughters Nonie Jackson, Carolyn Cornell, Elaine Jackson; grandchildren Anthony, Samuel, Ruben, Matthew, Rebecca, Joshua, Rachel, Kayla, Aaron, Hanna and 6 great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Sharon attended Celebration Christian Center and was a strong Christian example and had a strong faith in God. A memorial will be held in her honor Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 10 AM at Celebration Christian Center, 1010 S. Ellsworth Road, Mesa 85208. A reception will follow at the church. Burial will be at the City of Mesa Cemetery at 1 PM. Arrangements by Bunker’s Garden Chapel.

Olive Morris

Olive Morris of Mesa, AZ passed away peacefully on June 26, 2010 just days shy of her 90th birthday with her family by her side. She married her high school sweet heart, Duke Morris, in 1939. They were married 68 years. She is survived by her 6 children, Earl (Sadie), Jerry (LaNelle), Yvonne, Paula Macdonald (Bob), Kirk (Carla), and Jeanie. She had 24 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. One daughter Louise preceded her in death. Olive was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and her loving influence will be sorely missed by all. Olive and her husband Duke were the owners and operators of Falcon Cleaners for 54 years. At the age of 45 Olive went back to school to become an elementary school teacher and later obtained a masters degree. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life; including a full-time mission to London England with her husband. She was an accomplished seamstress and at the age of 16 won second place in a national 4-H design and sewing contest. She sewed many favorite outfits for herself and her children throughout her lifetime. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Friday July 2, 2010 at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 North Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 3rd at 11:00 am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Beverly building, 1054 West 2nd Place, Mesa. Interment to follow at the City of Mesa Cemetery.

Obituary Article for Lori Keenan

Lori Kay Keenan died Wednesday June 23rd 2010 in Mesa Arizona. Lori was born April 8th 1962 in Walla Walla Washington. Her proud parents Bill and Nona Simmons took her home to Milton Free water Oregon where she grew up. As a child and an adult Lori loved fishing, camping, boating and spending time with her friends. She attended Tum-A-Lum elementary and graduated from Mc. Laughlin High School in 1980. She was married in her home town to James Holmes in the springtime of 1981. They were married until the spring of 1997 when Jimbo passed. David loved Lori the moment he met her in the winter of 1999 as he left his hat with her to symbolize his return home to marry her. They married at the historic Hitching Post in Coeur de lane Idaho in January 1st 2001. Together they enjoyed many activities together like traveling to as many lighthouses up and down the Washington and Oregon coastline as they could. Traveling together to see family and friends as well as making new ones was part of who Lori and David were together.

Lori worked for S.M.I.L.E. LLC. And was the ray of sunshine for her coworkers. She was preceded in death by her grandparents on both sides and her parents William L. Simmons and Nona J. Pettry Simmons, Her first husband James J. Holmes and a handful of Aunts and Uncles on her mother’s side. She is survived by her husband David P. Keenan, her mother in law Ida Wheeler, her father in law Dave H. Wheeler, her sister Billie J. Simmons, her sister in law Lisa Gallegos, spouse and their three children. Andrea Bradley, spouse, and three children. Cindy Sanchez, spouse and three children. Tami Checon, spouse, and three children. Other family members include Crystal Downing, Serina Toomey, Johnathan Toomey, William Toomey, Bernice Toomey as well as many other Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many loving friends.

The service honoring Lori begins at 10am on Tuesday June 29th 2010. There will be a viewing available beginning at 12pm and ending at 2pm the same day.

Lori’s service will be held at the following location:

There will be an additional service held in her memory in her hometown of Milton Free Water however a date and time has not been set yet.

Muriel Miller Hancock was loved by all who knew her. She was elegant, talented, and beautiful. Born in Banida, ID on September 3, 1930, she passed away June 26, 2010 in Mesa, AZ from Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Muriel married Norman Hancock on Dec 21, 1951 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She loved being surrounded by her large family. She is survived by her loving husband Norman, 6 children: sons Lynn (Dee), John (Griselda) daughters, Jan (Bruce) McBride, LeNell (Bruce) Heywood, Annette (Peter) Thompson, JoAn (Alex) Finter, 28 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, brothers, Ray and Doward Miller and a sister Norma Farrow. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 10:00 am with a visitation 30 minutes prior at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa AZ.

Bernadene Melva Raymond passed away June 21, 2010. She was born January 18, 1926 in Royal, Iowa to John & Gertrude Streufert. She moved to Arizona in 1953 with her first husband, Gerald Graham, who passed away in 1960. She is survived by her second husband, Daniel Raymond, whom she married in 1963, her brother Wayne Streufert and his children, a son Aaron Raymond, three step-children, Ronald Raymond, Gary Raymond and Linda Anderson, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Delila. Bernadene was a lifetime member of Rebekah’s and had been a Grand Matriarch. Memorial service will be June 28th at 10:00a.m., at Bunker’s University Chapel, 3529 E. University Dr., Mesa, AZ. The family sends thanks to Hospice of the Valley.

passed away on June 17, 2010 in Mesa, AZ. She was born May 19, 1922 in Preston, ID to Fred and Martha Steuri, who at the time were recent immigrants from Switzerland. She graduated from Preston High School and soon thereafter met and married Monte S. Packer from nearby Riverdale, ID. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and six sisters. She is survived by her seven children: Larry (VaLois) Packer, Bart Packer, Shannon (Bill) Cole, Jeffrey (Diana) Packer, Launa (Lamarr) Lawlor, Roxi (Mark) Kelly, and Robert (Kelly) Packer. She has 33 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held in Mesa, AZ on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 11:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6655 E. Preston, with a Viewing at 9:30am; and also in Preston, ID on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 12:00pm at the Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S 800 E, Preston, ID, with a Viewing at 10:30am. Burial will be in the Riverdale, ID Cemetery.

Marjorie Killpack Bullock, 92 of Mesa, Arizona, returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father on June 16, 2010. She was born 11/04/1917 in Nephi, UT to William Leslie and Jeanette Killpack, and grew up in Driggs, ID with her sister Helen Paxman and two brothers who died in childhood. A lifetime active LDS Church member, she married Victor Collins Bullock (deceased) in the Salt Lake Temple. Later they served in the Singapore Mission. They raised 5 children in SLC, UT: Victor C Jr. (Orange, CA), John (Houston, TX), Tracey Ann Browning (Portland, OR), Kent (Mesa, AZ), and Bill (Draper, UT). She is survived by 17 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. A BYU graduate, Marjorie taught elementary school in UT and AZ much of her life. She was a caring wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sorely missed. Viewing 9:30 AM followed by funeral at 11 AM on June 22, 2010 at Woodglen Park Ward, 616 S Extension Rd, Mesa, AZ. Burial will follow at Mesa cemetery. Arrangement by Bunker’s Garden Chapel.

Carl Christoff, born March 30, 1943 in Elkton, Maryland; died June 11, 2010 in Mesa, Arizona from a heart attack brought on by trauma from a traffic accident. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jacqueline; his 3 daughters: DeeManna Christoff of Seattle, WA; BiBi Christoff of Moorpark, CA (married to Edwin Stankiewicz) and mother of his grandsons: Ethan and Justin; and NaTasha Christoff Logacho of Mesa, AZ (married to Carlos Logacho) and mother of his granddaughter Ellaina and his grandson Kelly. Also, he is survived by his 2 sisters: Tina Rauch of Chesterfield, MO and Jennifer Lyerla of St. George, UT.

“Chris” served in the US Air Force during the 1960’s. Then, he moved back to the Midwest living in Granite City, IL. After moving to Arizona, he worked for Mesa Public Schools at Dobson High School during the 1990’s as head of security. He recently retired from teaching at the Sullivans Elementary School in Yokosuka, Japan at the US Naval Base.
