Jennifer Lynn Hill
August 30, 1983 - September 25, 2018

After a valiant battle with brain cancer, Jennifer Lynn Johnson Hill, age 35, passed away Tuesday evening while surrounded by her family. She was a light in the life of many and will be dearly missed.

Born to Kerry and Carol Johnson, Jennifer was the oldest of six siblings who have always looked up to her. She grew up in Mesa, AZ and would later return there to raise her family. After graduating from Mesa High School, she left to attend Brigham Young University where she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology. She would then move to Bakersfield, California to begin her career and, as it would turn out, her family too. It was there that she met and fell in love with Brent Aaron Hill, whom she would later marry in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They are the parents of Bruce Aaron Hill (8), Jane Evelyn Hill (5), David Kerry Hill (4), Alexander Grant Hill (2), and Wesley Scott Hill (9 months).

Jennifer loved learning. She was a voracious reader and excelled in school. She had an extraordinary mind and deftly wielded it as an instrument to love, serve, and cheer for those around her. She loved people and was so good at finding beautiful, simple ways to connect with people and to help them feel loved – whether it was a cheery phone call, a handwritten note, or a personal visit.

Jennifer also loved music. She was an accomplished pianist with the ability to sit down and play almost any song. She loved singing and performing in choirs or small groups with friends and family. She also played the cello and loved classical music. She loved to listen to music, to dance to music with her children, to perform music, and to share music.

Jennifer filled our hearts with Christ-like love, exemplified selfless service and kindness, and brought light into a darkening world. Although our hearts ache beyond measure at this time, we rejoice and celebrate an amazing woman who had a tremendous, positive impact on so many lives. We rejoice in our Savior who, through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, made it possible for families to be together forever. To experience such sorrow is to have known great love, and how we loved our Jennifer!

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00am, with a visitation prior to the service from 9:00am to 11:00am, at the LDS Kimball Stake Center, 1266 S 32nd St, Mesa, AZ 85204. Graveside services will take place at the City of Mesa Cemetery, 1212 N Center St, Mesa, AZ 85201, on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 9:00am.

Dana Scott Machado
06/23/1981 - 09/23/2018

Dana Scott “Mucho” Machado died tragically on the morning of Sunday, September 23, 2018.

Dana was born June 23, 1981 in Boulder, Colorado. Dana grew up in Colorado and moved to the desert southwest more than a decade ago for his bride-to-be, a native Arizonan. Though Dana adjusted quickly to the hot Arizona summers, and loved to swim, he always missed the mountains and seasons of Colorado. Dana was a lifelong learner and prided himself on being an informed citizen. He was always bettering himself, simultaneously working and going to school, striving for more and determined to make the best life possible for his wife and sons. Dana was a truly kind and generous man. He had a warm heart, was always welcoming, supportive and willing to lend a helping hand to others. Dana was passionate in his beliefs but accepting of differences in others. He loved music, Mexican food, reading, his dogs (boxers), Star Wars, and movies in general, beer, gaming, cars, all things tech, and the great outdoors.

Dana’s absence in our lives will leave an indelible scar, a pain and loss we will all carry for the rest of our lives. We are grateful for Dana’s life, for the joy his existence brought to the world, and we will honor him now by ensuring his children know the kind of man they called dad.

Dana is survived by his wife Jessica, sons Christian and River, his mother Sherry Roberts, father David Machado, sister Danielle Kekoa, grandparents Terri and James Roberts, and numerous extended relations and friends that consider Dana family.

Rest in peace, brother.

Dustin “Dusty” Jeffrey Camp
November 12, 1986 - September 21, 2018

Dustin Jeffrey Camp was born to Judy and Larry Camp November 12, 1986 in Las Vegas, NV. He left those of us who loved him September 21, 2018.

It’s a difficult task to sum up someone’s life experience in several paragraphs but Dusty’s paragraphs of life were well spent.

Dusty leaves behind his wife Elizabeth (Bitsy) whom he loved so much, his best friend and brother Crosby, his sister Tatum and her husband Jack as well as their new baby girl Henley Kai.

It’s never easy to say goodbye to someone who is so beloved, but even more difficult when the loss is sudden and at such a young age. Dusty and Bitsy were married just last year and recently purchased their first home; they were so happy. Like many couples they had plans for their future together. Dusty loved Bitsys family. He was so appreciative of the support he and Bitsy received from them, especially his mother and father in law Irene and Dave.

Dusty’s dad and big brother liked sports and music so these naturally became passions for Dusty as well. He participated in many sports but mostly baseball which he played into high school. He played the drums but switched to the guitar around the age of twenty. He enjoyed playing and learning new songs. It was not uncommon to find Dusty in a room with the door closed playing along to an instructional video. He enjoyed attending concerts his first being ZZ Top accompanied of course by Crosby and Dad.

While serving in the United States Air Force, Dusty was able to visit many faraway places like Italy, Germany and Afghanistan. One time he and a buddy flew from Italy to England to see Guns and Roses. Another time it was off to Germany for Oktoberfest.

Dusty worked as a surveyor for the past five years and most days was teamed with his buddy Jay. Dusty’s boss Anthony along with Jay stopped by and though tears were shed we shared a few laughs over some of the discussions Dusty would get into with them and they expressed how much he would be missed.

Astronomy and boxing were two of Dusty’s passions. He loved learning and was constantly talking about recent discoveries of planets or a universe that mimicked ours. He enjoyed looking through any telescope when given the opportunity and watching innumerable videos or movies about space and the cosmos. While outside recently he pointed his phone to the sky and via an app described which planets we could see. It was fun to observe his excitement and passion over something most pay little attention to. As for boxing, you’d want to set aside some time if you asked Dusty a boxing question. He had his fighters he liked and he would defend them; passionately. When he came over, he and Crosby would watch boxing matches pretty much every time. Surprisingly, many of the fights they would watch were from as far back as the forties or fifties. They got pretty boisterous at times so the door needed to be closed. Still, you couldn’t help hear an occasional f bomb when somebody got robbed by the judges. Unfortunately in boxing, this happens all too often.

Dusty loved Hawaii. He spent many weeks there throughout his life and many hours boogie boarding at Hukilau Beach on Oahu. Occasionally he would leave the water and spend time with family doing other things but was always back in the water before long. Dusty was a great big brother to Tatum. He was tasked with being her playmate and sitter on many occasions. He took pride in her accomplishments and was super excited to take Bitsy to Hawaii and visit Tatum, Jack and his new niece.

Though Dusty has left us physically, his spirit will always be with us. He was kind to everyone. He was a happy child with an infectious smile and as he aged into adulthood, his smile was ever present. We will miss Dusty but look forward with hope to a time when we can be reunited with our wonderful son, brother, husband and friend.

We love you Dust.
